CES Parent Update

Week of January 23

Dear Families,

I want to take a moment to celebrate our students that have participated in a field trip, show, program or competition over the last couple of weeks. We have heard compliment after compliment about our student's behavior, engagement, and enthusiasm for learning. We are always proud of our students and to have "outsiders" recognize their greatness brings us great pride. Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us each day- they are truly the best!

Over the next couple of weeks, our teachers are working to complete mid-year assessments to gauge strengths and areas of growth with each student. This data helps inform the direction of instruction for the second half of the year. If you have any concerns, please be sure to reach out to your child's teacher for guidance on ways to support at home or for clarity on how we are approaching instruction at school. We value your partnership with us and hope you have a wonderful week!

~Allyson Jordan, Principal

Watch DOGS Sign Up

Our Watch DOGS program provides positive male role models for the students demonstrated by their presence that education is important. The program also provides an extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and safety.

Duties throughout the day include welcoming students into the building, checking all doors and locks, assisting in the front office, participating in classroom instruction, providing supervision in the cafeteria, playing with students during recess, and much more. Wear sneakers- we will keep you busy!

New this year, we will have two Watch DOGS on duty each day. One Watch DOG will remain on campus all day and help with the items mentioned above just as we typically have done. The second Watch DOG will be on campus for a couple hours in the morning and will be focused solely on ensuring safety and security during our arrival procedures.

CLICK HERE to sign up. Should spots fill up, please contact our counselor, Ms. Agundez who will add you to our wait list. She will contact you directly if there are cancellations.

Please remember, you must have a clear background check in order to participate. It is the responsibility of the Watch DOG to ensure TISD has cleared you to volunteer. The volunteer application can be found here.
