Ms. Quick's Class
November 6, 2015
This week in Class...
Writing: This week the students' writing really took off. We know a lot of sight words now and this makes it a lot more enjoyable and rewarding for the students because they are able to not only write a complete sentence but read it back to me when they are done!
Math: This week we did a little reviewing of counting, number writing, and comparing quantities. I have noticed that number recognition after 10 is a challenge for many so keep counting and ask your child about numbers!
Science: We spent this week learning and using our 5 senses. The class got to smell mystery ingredients, taste different foods, and feel different textures.

What's Coming up Next Week?
Don't forget to keep reading your book bag books and practicing your letters and letter sounds!! Your new homework packet and Book-it Calendars should have made it home this week. If they didn't, let me know and I can send a new one home!
Another round of parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Thursday. I will only be meeting with parents that I haven't already met with. If you don't have a conference scheduled, please check your child's folder next week for progress reports on how he/she is doing in class!! If you have any questions, please let me know!
This week I tried out the "paint in a bag" word find. I double bagged it and put tape around the ziploc part to make sure of no spills. Basically, the child rubs their fingers along the bag and discovers words written on paper underneath. Ask your child about the new way they are learning the sight words!
