Starting in October 2015, students will take the newly redesigned PSAT, which features changes in both scoring and content. It will be scored out of 1520, with a range of 160 to 760 for both the Math and Reading/Writing sections. In the new PSAT, as with the new SAT, the Reading and Writing sections will be combined into one overall score.
Changes in Test Format
Unlike the old PSAT, the redesigned PSAT gives no penalties for wrong answers. Instead of 5 multiple choice answers, the new PSAT offers only 4. This is a major change!
Test Dates for LVMS
8th Graders - Will take the PSAT 8-9 on October 20, 2015.
National Merit Scholarship Information
Students who take the PSAT/NMSQT are automatically screened for the National Merit® Scholarship Program. PSAT 8-9 and PSAT 10 are not considered for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Since its founding, NMSC has recognized over 3 million students and provided more than 396,000 scholarships worth over $1.5 billion. For more information,

Other Benefits of Doing Well on the PSAT
AP Potential: Results give us valuable information that helps match students to Pre-AP and AP courses through the AP Potential program.
Money for College: Students who mark “Yes” to Student Search Service™ when they take either thePSAT/NMSQT or the PSAT 10 automatically provide their results, making it easy for colleges and scholarship programs to find them and contact them. Millions of dollars are available.
Prepare for the SAT: Results from PSAT help establish a baseline measurement of students' college and career readiness. It also gives them a chance to preview the SAT test and develop a targeted study plan to do well.

The LVMS Bleacher Report...
Cross Country (Coach Karg)
This is our inaugural season!!
Our cross country season is in full swing and almost half way over. We competed against 12 other team in Liberty Hill last weekend. Our kids continue to race with determination and grit as they compete against over 200 runners in each race. Luca Lawless and Itza Cantera broke into the top 20 in each of their races, and multiple other competitors reached the top 50 runners. These include, Ben Carlton, Preston Coffey, Noah Hernandez, Grace Coldicott, and TC Cagle.
We do not have a meet this weekend, but will race on our home course at Lago Vista High School next Saturday the 26th starting at 8:00. Please come out and support these amazing athletes and all of their hard work.
Volleyball (Coach DuBose & Coach Holt):
This past Monday, the LVMS Volleyball Team participated in a district match up against Gateway. The 8th Grade Gold Team fell short in two sets, but played a great game. Calypso did a phenomenal job as the setter running around the court to get her teammates the ball. Lily had a great serving game and played a huge role in earning her teammates some extra points.
The 8th Grade Blue Team fell short to Gateway in 2 sets: 25-16 and an exciting 25-21. Ashlyn Pasak led the team in serves with 6 in row.
These ladies continue to amaze me with their hard work and commitment to the volleyball program. They have practice early each morning, and even stay after school. We hope you can join us at our next home game on September 28th against Florence. Come watch these girls put on a show!
Football (Coach Fowler, Coach Rague, Coach Rogers, Coach Tomlin)
Super Team, 7th & 8th Football vs. Wall MS
The LVMS Vikings Super Team ootball season began with a great kick from Chandler Henson and the Vikings holding the Hawks on their 1st possession. However, the Hawks scored later in the 1st Qtr. A few good tackles were made by Gonzalo Hildalgo, Peyton Hibner and Anson Eluterius. Later in the 1st Heather Power had a nice kickoff return to pace the Vikings and have Hibner carry the Vikings along with Henson down the field before Henson scored on a pitch from Zach Johnson. In the 2nd Jagger Nowak had an interception to set-up the Vikings at mid-field but a turnover opened the way for the Hawks. David Rague, Micah Lagerquist, Dylan McCrory, & Nate Spiers had some tackles but the Hawks outpaced the Vikings to a 26-6 win.
The 7th grade began the game with Josh Alexander taking the toss from Adrian Hernandez for 66yds to the endzone. Opening the way were Layne Powers and a knockout block by Noah Hernandez on the corner back. The 2pt. conversion failed but the Vikings had a 6-0 lead. Defensively the Vikings had excellent play from Layne Powers, Trace Sweet, Noah Yetly, Kaleb Alderette, Josh Alexander & Reece Whitelaw. The Hawks did contain the offense late in the 3rd for a 2pt. safety but the Vikings held for a 6-2 WIN!!
Vikings 8th grade team began strong with Tristian Arambula having a 33yd kickoff return. The Vikes pounded the ball on the 1st few plays but turned the ball over on downs and Hawks only had 3 plays in the 1st quarter. The Hawks scored twice in the 2nd qtr. to lead 16-0. The Hawks made another run but were stymied by the Vikings with plays from Arambula, Jack Hood, Josh Hernandez, Ben Carlton, Preston Coffey, Grant Arietta & Hunter Sims. The Vikings and Hawks went back and forth during the 3rd with no scores. The Vikings began moving the ball in the 4th qtr. with a Nathan Wiechman to Coffey pass & catch and a Sam Hurley scramble for a 1st down. The Vikings kept pounding the ball at the Hawks behind the O-line of Griffin Beard, Seth Babin, Jack Hood, Ruari Kent, William Hamilton and Hunter Sims. This lead to a dive from Sam Hurley for the touchdown late in the 4th. The Hawks lead was 16-6. The Vikings held on defense the next Hawk possession and made a late charge but came up short to lose 16-6.
