Welcome to 5/6N Semester 1 2019
Where amazing things happen!
A summary of Semester 1
This semester has been super busy with heaps of exciting events, carnivals, and most importantly, learning! We have had 21 weeks of school so far which we have all grown so much in our learning and learnt so much about each other too. I can't wait to see how much more we can fit into next semester.
Wellbeing
Students have been focusing on their health and wellbeing, as we all know how important it is. They have been doing yoga for fitness to maintain their wellbeing, as well as making a stress ball for them each to have!
English
During Term 2, students have been working hard on both their public speaking, and their script writing. We have been able to combine our art for this term with our writing so we can create a claymation video with a talk over of the students script. Our class has been focusing on making sure we can build strong characters in our scripts, in order to make an interesting claymation video.
Mathematics
We have been working on doing some fun number talks and getting the students to explain how they got their answers and why they worked it out the way they did. Students enjoyed surveying their class to gather information, and displaying it in graphs!
Science Excursion at Woollongong University
On the 4th of June we went on a Stage trip to the University of Woolongong to visit their space centre. 5/6N got to experiment with heaps of challenges set up around the centre, as well as being able to watch some amazing experiments with liquid nitrogen!
Peer Support
Year 6's as well as some Year 5's are our peer support leaders for this year. They are in charge of learning lesson content to be able to teach their groups. The groups consist of students from K-6. This opportunity allows for the students to learn how to be a leader and they have the responsibility of engaging their group in the session. The students have been working very well in making sure they do a great job!
Where to next?
Next semester, we are going to make sure we maintain working as hard as we have been in Semester 1 to ensure that 5/6N moves forward and remain successful in their learning.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Baxter!
