Our staff and students have begun this school year with a great start. It has been wonderful to see all the new and returning families to Elmdale School. Our Strong Connection Days were very successful. Our teachers took advantage of the small class sizes by working with your child within interactive activities, getting to know your child at a more personal level. Students each had an opportunity to pick a new book from our New Book Event to take home to enjoy reading. Thank you to our Parent Council for providing the funds to purchase these books for all our students.

As we do every year, we take the opportunity to reflect and collect money for the Terry Fox Foundation. Not only is raising money for the Terry Fox Foundation a great initiative, this event provides an opportunity for the students and staff to celebrate the life of a special Canadian. Yes, students were slightly motivated to make donations because Friday's assembly was going to be an eggcellent time. I enjoy seeing all our students as a collective striving to support the Terry Fox Foundation as it tends to bring our students together as a group, building relationships within a common goal.

As we head into the month of October, the weather becomes a little cooler and there normally is an increase in vehicles in Family Parking Lot. I will ask that parents continue to be patient and park in the family parking lot and continue to walk their children across the parking lot to the playground.

Located in our main parking lot on the North side of our school, we have our Family Parking lot. This is where all families park to pick up and drop off children. Parents must walk their child from their vehicle to the school playground. Please be aware that at these pick up and drop off times, we have school busses that enter and exit the school parking lot.

Picture day at Elmdale School will be October 11 during the morning. Your child will have received a school picture order form. You can either place your order using the order form or going online to mylifetouch.ca to place your order.

Please check our website for the bus pick up times and location near your house.
If your address has changed, please call transportation at 204-320-2347 to make sure that your children are riding the correct bus to and from school.
