Hour of Code

December 7-11, 2015

NEISD Challenge

We are hoping to get 100% of campuses in the district to participate in the Hour of Code 2015. To do this, we need your help!

Teachers, agree to have your students participate in an hour of coding during the week of December 7th-11th. Register for this event at http://hourofcode.com/us.

What is it?

The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Anyone, anywhere can organize an Hour of Code event. One-hour tutorials are available in over 30 languages. No experience needed. Ages 4 to 104.

What Devices Can You Use?

Computers/Laptops in the lab and/or classroom, Chromebooks, iTouches, iPads, Mac books...any device that can access the internet can be used!

Using a computer, laptop or Chromebook?

Take a look at the available coding tutorials. Be sure to use the arrows to look at the different activities that are available.

Right-click on the VDI computers and click on Hour of Code to take students directly to the site.

There is a new Hour of Code activity available with a Frozen theme! Check it out! Be sure to use Chrome for this one.

Apps for Mobile Devices

These are some of our favorite apps for coding. The link to the app is available for each one so you can download it onto your mobile devices. If you find others that you like better, feel free to use them with your students.

No devices? No problem!!

Not having devices available to use during this week shouldn't keep your students from being involved in the Hour of Code. Watch the video below to see how your class can still participate.

Special thanks to Rackspace!!

Thanks, Rackers, for getting involved with our campuses, students and teachers in the Roosevelt Cluster. Your involvement with our campus is greatly appreciated!
