Touch Screens
How they work...
What are Touch Screens?
A Touch Screen is a display screen that is sensitive to pressure i.e.. when someone touches the screen and it goes onto and photo, link, app and more,
The pressure on the screen
As the screen is touched the pressure slightly pushes the screen, making what ever you touch come up.
Devices with touch screen
Phones, laptops, computers etc.
How the screen reacts to touch
The touch draws current from each corner of the electrical device measuring the currents to determine touch location.
The History of Touch Screens
E.A. Johnson invented the TOUCH SCREEN in 1965. He created it in The Royal Radar Establishment in Malvern. E.A. Johnson’s process was only able to handle a single touch at any one time, far from today’s multitouch screens. It had other limitations, too as it could only register a touch (or not) – i.e. there was no sense of pressure, which arrived much later on.
