PTA Basket Raffle
We are gearing up for a basket raffle event in May! Save the date for the evening of Friday, May 19th. Each class is collecting items for a basket that will then be raffled off on that date. We will have food for purchase, activities for the kids and a special raffle for them as well. More info will be coming soon for the event.
For now, we are asking parents to send in or bring in items that would go with your students class theme. Each of our classrooms has a parent assigned to that class to help. You should have , or will shortly, receive an email letting you know what the theme is for your classroom, and it will also give you a list of suggested items to donate.
Please send any items you donate in with your student. We are collecting items in their classroom for now. The deadline for donations will be Monday, May 1st.

Attendance Matters
Good attendance helps children do well in school and eventually in the workplace. Good attendance matters for school success, starting as early as prekindergarten and throughout elementary school. By middle and high school, poor attendance is a leading indicator of dropout. Developing the habit of attendance prepares students for success on the job and in life. We are lucky to have such great families at Broad View that partner with us to make sure students are at school every day.
News from the Library
Happy April!
In March, we read amazing stories that were nominated for the Washington State Picture Book Award. One of our favorites was a book titled Claude, a true story of a white alligator. We enjoyed learning about Claude and loved reading other new fabulous books. In April, we will be reading a variety of poem books for Poetry Month and will encourage students to write poems of their own.
Happy Reading!

April 2023 - Family Fitness Tip
Interested in getting out for some fresh air and exploration? We highly recommend you check out Fort Ebey State Park. Set on the western side of Whidbey Island, Fort Ebey was constructed as a coastal defense fort during the Second World War. Its fort battery was dug into a high bluff and is great fun to explore for kids and adult alike. Don't forget your flashlight! The park also holds over 25 miles of walking and bike trails. If the wind is right, be on the look out for people paragliding at this popular location as well!
Original Works art-based fundraising!
Through the program, students will create artwork that you then can have reproduced onto a variety of keepsake products. The products range from magnets to mugs and start at just $6.00. The ordering timeline will be April 10-19th.
Complete details on the program will be sent home soon. Proceeds from the program will be used for enrichment programs. For more information on Original Works please visit their website at www.originalworks.com
Thank you for supporting this unique and creative program!
