A Message from Principal Skyles
Hello McDaniel Families,
This week several Freshman history classes were able to take a field trip to the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education. Based on the feedback that I heard from students it has been great and we would like to thank the Freshman team for putting this experience together.
Our Spring Sports, Theater, and Music departments finished up the past 2 weeks.. It has been great to watch our athletes, musicians, vocalists, and thespians doing what they love!
The Student Climate Strike is today and I was able to briefly speak with some students about their passion and concern for climate change.
Senior families, there are only 7 more school days after today. Let’s make sure we are finishing strong and let us know if you need any support. If you have questions about any classes, please check in with their Counselor. Here is the list of Counselors & their emails by the last name.

Lastly, Senior families, you should have received a postcard last week that provided information about the last 7 days for your students. We are excited to have our first in-person Senior Celebration in 2 years on Wednesday, June 1st from 6 pm - 7 pm in the gym.
We hope to see our seniors and their families during the celebration, which will include:
Scholarship announcements
Enlisted student acknowledgment
Valedictorian and Salutatorian acknowledgment
PPS Award Winners
Department Awards
Take care of one another,
Enjoy your weekend!

UPDATES AND INFORMATION

Saturday School - Tomorrow, May 21st
All students need to bring their student ID and Chromebooks. They can enter through the front doors of the school.
Youth Mental Health Forum: 5/21
Multnomah County Commissioner Meieran is hosting a Youth Mental Health Forum on Saturday, May 21st, at the DoubleTree in the Lloyd District. This will be an opportunity for youth to gather and share their experiences, needs, and challenges with regard to mental health. As this will likely inform many of Commissioner Meieran's priorities related to youth mental health, it's key that we have voices from all of Multnomah County represented. Event registration is now open for youth attendees and youth volunteers.
Below are direct links to the event page and registration pages.
In terms of structure, much of the event will be in large group and table-top discussions, but will also include affinity spaces for BIPOC and LGBTQIA2+ youth, a resource fair, as well as mental health professionals on site to support youth who may be triggered during the event.
All event information can be found here: multco.us/ymhf
- Note: Event registration on website can be found here
