South Carolina was settled by the English in 1670. It also became the 8th state to ratify the U.S constitution in 1788. South Carolina became the 1st to secede from the union in 1861.

How we got our name

The name of our state comes from the Latin name "Carolus" which is translated as Charles and he is our king

Stono Rebellion

The stono rebellion was held here in south carolina in 1739, 20 slaves killed several planters families.

-Our main crops were rice, indigo, and tobacco and we were really heavy on slave labor.

-We are known for peaches.

-We specialize in sweet grass basket making.

-Morgan island is known as monkey island and has over 3500 monkeys.
