NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER
Time changed and so did we....................
You will work hard for the things you want.....
Volleyball continued, and the players enjoyed what games they had. Success was celebrated, and the students welcomed the possibility of winning that special ticket to watch their classmates play.
On November 5, a guitar presentation by the grade 8 and 9 students was held in the theatre. What used to be a packed house was now only for a select few. Thankful to Mr. Simon for organizing this.
The wind blew and the snow flew to welcome our first weekend of the month. It was quite the storm and a snow day was called for Monday, November 9. Most came back the next day; however, buses were not running for our division as roads were just not good. We all watched the Remembrance Day video from our classrooms. Thanks to our Student Council Presidents, Porter and Lasca for hosting the video, as well as the other students who researched and contributed. Well done to you all. This was our last day, as a 5 day weekend started on November 11.
On November 19, Jostens set up a display for our grads. Many of them ordered jewellery and or jackets. The display was fantastic.
The last week of November was not quite what we expected. We started the week with basketball tryouts only to be cancelled due to a provincial message, We are having an extended break for all grades 7 through 12, starting November 30 until January 11, 2021. All sports and group gatherings were also cancelled; therefore, no music, no choir and no basketball until we come back.
We have been busy getting your children prepared for online classes. Those who need devices for school work have been given the opportunity to borrow one from the school. Students started online classes on November 30, and will, continue this until the real Christmas break starts on December 18. Online classes will resume on January 4 and your children will be back at school on January 11, 2021.
School Calendar
Principals Message......
It is amazing to me how fast time flies by. It seems like just yesterday that I was welcoming
everyone back to school for the new school year, and now there are 20ish days until
Christmas. But… this December has a way different look and feel than last December, as we
find ourselves back in online schooling with teachers at school and our students, your
children, at home.
We, like you are sad about this, and are hopeful scenario 3 will only last a few weeks, and
then we will be united back at MHS again. In the meantime, we will continue to do all we
can to support, to communicate, and to teach, as we do our very best to help keep students
learning moving in a positive direction.
Along with this thought, I just wanted to remind you that MHS is not a closed campus.
Teachers are more than willing to work with students face to face on a one to one basis. If
your child needs more support than they can receive through Zoom, Google Classroom,
txts, or emails, please reach out to their teachers to set up a time for your child to come to
the school for personalized learning sessions.
Another thought on my mind revolves around the area of mental health. We all know that
change causes stress, worry, and anxiety, and heaven knows there has been lots of that so
far this school year. I know there is not a magic pill when it comes to maintaining mental
health, but a couple of areas that work for me, are to laugh and to give. Below is a link to a
video by a comedian named Michael Jr. In this video, he will help you laugh, as well as give
advice on the benefits of giving rather than taking. Take a look if you so desire.

In the meantime, I hope you all take the time to enjoy family and friends this holiday
season. Have a great Christmas, and if you have any questions about your child’s education, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Brad.
