Saturday, May 7th, MISD Bond Election

Saturday is the last day for the bond election. If you have not had a chance to vote, stop by any McKinney ISD middle school, or the Elections Office on Redbud to cast a ballot in the McKinney ISD Bond Election. On average, fewer than 10% of registered voters participate in school bond elections, so please make your voice heard. All you need to bring with you is your driver’s license or an approved form of photo identification. If you need any additional information please visit

3rd Grade STAAR Test, May 9th & 10th

The STAAR is here! On Monday, May 9th , all third grade students will take the Math STAAR Test, and on Tuesday, May 10th , students will take the Reading STAAR. We are excited for our students to 'show what they know' as they take their test! While the STAAR test is important, please know that it is just a snapshot of your child. Each student is much more than just one, or two days of testing. We want the students to try their best on the test, but we do not want them to be stressed out.

In order to alleviate any testing day jitters, we highly encourage that each child get a good night sleep and healthy dinner the night before testing. We also encourage your child to have a hot, healthy breakfast the morning of testing. We will begin testing first thing in the morning, so all students should be on time to school. Students should dress in layers for testing day (in case they get cold or hot) and bring a water bottle and their normal snack to school. Please send snacks that are not messy (no Cheetos or anything that could ruin their test documents) and that are unwrapped and put in a zip lock bag. Students may also bring a small bag of unwrapped mints/gum with them in a ziplock bag. In addition to a snack, students should bring extra number 2 pencils (pencils will be provided, but it is always good to have a spare), a highlighter and a chapter book to read after testing. Please give your child lots of encouragement and let them know how proud you are of the growth they have shown this year. We know that our students are amazing and will do a great job!

Due to STAAR testing, Monday through Thursday will be closed campus days. There will be no volunteers or lunch visitors during this time. If you have any questions regarding the STAAR test or the upcoming week, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.
