Principals Message:
We hope this CHS Weekly message finds you enjoying summer and relaxing as we get closer to the start of the 2023-2024 School year. We have been working hard over the summer to prepare for an exciting start to the school year at Centennial High School. It has been a busy summer at CHS! We had an outstanding Summer School program, our summer sports programs have been running strong, the stadium renovations are nearing completion, and many different construction projects are happening all around campus, from a new intercom system to installing new security upgrades to a new playground for our CHS preschool program it has been a busy summer.
As we get ready to start a new school year, there are so many things to look forward to, and we are eager to embrace our mission of helping each student to demonstrate high academic standards in an equitable, supportive school culture and to graduate college and career-ready. To support this goal, we have several important dates coming up:
CHS Freshman Orientation - Thursday, August 24th, from 8:10 AM to 10:10 AM. We would like to invite all incoming 9th-grade students to attend CHS Freshman Orientation. The schedule for the day is as follows:
7:30 - 8:10 AM - Freshmen can be dropped off or ride the bus using the same scheduled pick-up as summer school.
8:10 -8:40 AM - 9th-grade Welcome Assembly and Games
8:40 - 9:10 AM - School Tours and CHS Nuts and Bolts
9:10 - 9:40 AM - Clubs and Sports Fair/Activity Sign-up
9:40-10:00 AM - More CHS How To's and What You Really Need to Know
10:00-10:10 AM CHS Welcome
10:10 AM - Freshmen dismissed and bus drop off
We are excited about the start of our Fall Sports season next Monday, August 14. Construction of phase 1 of the CHS Sports Complex Strategic Plan has been going well and is nearing completion, I am also pleased to continue to support our CHS student-athletes by continuing our partnership with the Hilinski's Hope Foundation. The Hilinski's Hope Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to promote awareness and education of mental health and wellness for many of the top-tier colleges and university student-athletes across our nation, and CHS is excited to be the first High School Program they will be working with. All CHS Student-athletes, Parents, and Families involved in CHS Fall Sports are invited to our CHS Fall Sports Parent Night on Tuesday, August 22nd, from 6:30-8 PM in the CHS Auditorium to learn more about Hilinski's Hope Foundation before the individual Fall Team Sports meetings. We will host a Parent Night before every sports season this year. We hope to see you there because it takes all of us to support our CHS Student-athletes, which is why we say, "We Soar together" at Centennial High School.
Remember, "Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle" at CHS!

As you may remember from last spring, there were several opportunities to choose and then edit your classes for this year. We wish to begin this school year with a focus on being settled in classes and learning on Day One, and we are only allowing very necessary schedule changes and only BEFORE school starts. If you do believe you have a necessary request, you must fill out this form CHS Schedule Change Request Form 2023-2024. Counselors will only consider requests that are submitted this way (no emails or phone calls).
Your request should be made on this form between August 1st and August 25th. No schedule change requests that involve Trimester One classes will be allowed after August 25th.
