LHS Students Receive Data Analytics Certificate
Eleven Lyons High School students have completed the first half of the NC3 (National Coalition of Certification Centers) Data Analytics course in Earth Science. Instructor Amanda Buckwalter received training last summer to be able to administer the training and assessment to LHS students. The certification enables students to show their employers that they can tell a story with data which will open up more opportunities for them in their future careers.
Wrestling Teams Off to a Fast and Successful Start
The Lyons High School Girls and Boys Wrestling Teams have both experienced some early season successes.
At their first competition of the year in Wakeeney on December 2, four boys placed in the top three of their respective weight divisions with a 1st place going to Jace Grizzle at 120 lbs, going 3-1; and 3rd place to Easton Benavidez (3-1) at 106 lbs, AJ Almanza (2-1) at 113 lbs, and Elijah Martinez (4-1) at 285 lbs. On the girls side, Kennedy Grizzle (2-1 at 110 lbs) and Alexa Guzman (2-1 at 130 lbs) both came away with 2nd place.
Both teams placed third at Hesston on December 9th. The girls team had three division champions Kennedy Grizzle, Alexa Guzman, and Kassia Lopez. The boys team had three champions including Easton Benavidez, Jace Grizzle, and Elijah Martinez.
The teams will next wrestle at Nickerson on November 14th.
4 LHS Students Participate in District Honor Band
Four Lyons High School musicians, auditioned for and were selected to play in the Kansas Music Educators Association District Honor Band. Kaitlyn Moore, Mia Bryant, Gilberto Silva-Paez, and Marianna Boese played with the best of the best from the south-central part of the state at Maize High School on November 2nd.

This week, five additional staff members received Christmas t-shirts in the 13 Days of Christmas T-shirts drawings.

Lighted Christmas Parade
The annual Chamber of Commerce lighted Christmas parade took place on Saturday, December 9 on the square. The Lyons High School marching band, always a favorite, played for the crowd!
LHS E-Sports Team Attends Event
The Lyons High School e-sports team has had tremendous success in its first 2-1/2 years of competition. The team has had scholarship winners and nationally-ranked teams and players. On December 2nd, the team traveled to Manhattan to play in a tournament hosted by K-State E-Sports. Players had the chance to compete and learn about scholarship opportunities and collegiate e-sports programs. The team is coached by LHS alum and technology teacher Travis Gautier.
