Tasmanian Tiger

A Tasmanian Tiger was a nocturnal crepuscular Australian animal. The scientific name for a Tasmanian Tiger is Thylacine.

Tasmanian Tigers have orange and black stripes all down their back. They were as big as a large dog. They were carnivorous marsupials. They live in the open woodlands and grasslands in Tasmania.

Tasmanian Tigers hunted wallabies, kangaroos, small mammals and birds.

Europeans killed them in the 1900s. The last known Thylacine died in Hobart Zoo in 1937. Tasmanian Tigers were the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world.

The Tasmanian Tiger is extinct because of European people killing them but they were Australia's largest predator.
