Principal's Message
March 23, 2018
Dear Willink Families,
Rumor has it that spring started earlier this week. However, as I look out my office window, snow still covers the ground and Bristol still has all their trails open and has night skiing! I am hard pressed to remember a March like this. The forecast for April break is pretty chilly too! If you are heading south for spring break, keep all of us in mind as we continue to deal with winter!
This coming week is Foreign Language Week. Our teachers have worked very hard creating activities and themes for each of the days. You will also see that all the offices have the title of the occupant written in French, German and Spanish. Please encourage your children to participate each day! See the calendar below for more details.
Our Water for South Sudan project continues to exceed our goal. The jar wars portion ended yesterday and we are going to reveal the results to the students on Monday. The three administrators who had the most amount of money put in their water jugs will be duck taped to the gym wall during the assembly next Thursday. I made a comment to a few kids that I hoped the duck tape would hold me and they assured me that they would make sure that there would be more than enough tape applied to hold me! How comforting... If you haven't donated but would still like to, you can donate online through April 6th - just click on the link! https://water-for-south-sudan-inc.networkforgood.com/projects/47284-willink-middle-school-s-water-for-south-sudan-project Thanks to all who supported this project. It was great to see kids get so excited about helping others in need.
Speaking of next Thursday, we are going to mix in elements from our pep rally with our assembly to celebrate the Water for South Sudan project. We are having color day as well: 8th graders wear black, 7th graders wear green, and 6th graders wear purple. So, hopefully, students still have the clothing and gear they were going to wear on March 2nd! Make sure to follow the event on @willinktitans as well as our homepage.
Despite our best efforts to reschedule the Spry-Willink Charity Basketball Game, it has been canceled for this year. We did raise a considerable amount of money through pre-sale of tickets and are planning on donating the money to the Jack Foundation. If you would like your ticket sale to count as a donation, we thank you and the Jack Foundation thanks you! As there was no game, this is now tax deductible. However, if you would like to be reimbursed for the cost of your ticket, you can drop them off at the Willink Main Office by April 13th. Tickets should be in an envelope with your name on it. On each ticket, please write the name of the adult who should be reimbursed. You will then get a check reimbursing you $5 for each ticket within two weeks.
Have a great weekend!
Jim
