Foodborne illnesses

Food poisoning which is caused by a foodborne illness can be potentially fatal. Foodborne illnesses are caused by pathogens and can cause a foodborne illness outbreak.

Source of the bacteria:

Usually caused by feces, human feces, and spread probably by not washing hands after going to the bathroom. Then handling food with dirty hands that contaminates food.


Types of food:

Salads, raw vegetables, milk and dairy products, and poultry such as chicken and turkey.


Ways to prevent it:

Washing hands after going to the bathroom

Practicing good personal hygiene

Keeping surfaces clean

Source of the bacteria:

Swallowing infected water, or eating food that had been contaminated. While it was being grown, contaminated water or irrigation infected the produce/crops.
