History
What Religion Considered This A Sacred Place?
Many gods and goddess thought of this city as a sacred place. However it was first sacred to the goddess Gaia, it was guarded by her daughter the serpent Python. Many Christians believed there however most were polytheistic and believed that the Olympian gods were the most important and were lead by Zeus. Gods were worshiped at the temple and it was thought that the gods came to visit during the ritual.
