ROHS Musical Performance
On Tuesday, our Royal Oak Music Department will be hosting a short assembly to introduce our youngest students to the world of the Performing Arts.
During this assembly our elementary students will have the opportunity to hear both vocal and instrumental selections performed by small groups from our Royal Oak High School. The Band students will be under the direction of Mr. David Jensen; Choir students, under the direction of Mrs. Kirsten Williams; Orchestra students, under the direction of Mr. Albin Rose.
The main purpose of these music tours is to encourage a passion for the Arts in each of our students. Our goal for these assemblies is to help to broaden students' perspectives and assist them in recognizing connections amongst the Arts, other disciplines, and everyday life, to help to deepen community connections and instill a sense of communal pride (as both students and teachers alike will potentially see familiar faces within the High School groups), and to help to ensure that all DK-5 students across our district are given the same opportunity to see musical ensembles in action.
Professional Learning Morning
Welcome, Mrs. Ristoski!
Mrs. Alyssa Ristoski will be our new 4th Grade Teacher starting Wednesday, February 8. Mrs. Ristoski is a graduate of Wayne State University. She recently taught in Southfield for 5 years. Report Cards
Report cards have been delayed until Monday, February 6, 2023. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience, but there was an outage/system maintenance in MiStar last night that has caused the delay. You will be able to access your child’s report cards using the Parent Portal on Monday, February 6. Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.
Attendance
Attendance at school every day is very important to a child's education. If a child is not in school he/she is missing instruction. We understand there are times when students need to be absent. We ask that you call the office if your child is going to be absent from school and provide any necessary documentation (i.e. doctor's notes) to the Main Office. Please keep in mind that excessive absences (18 or more school days including half day absences) will lead to a referral to Royal Oak Youth Assistance or our School Truancy Officer.
Students who are tardy to school also miss valuable instruction. If your child is tardy, you need to come into the office and sign your child in on the yellow form.
If you pick up your child from school prior to regular dismissal time, you also need to sign your child out on the yellow form.
