DECORATING DOORS FOR MARCH IS READING MONTH:
Message from ELA committee:
As we all know reading month is quickly approaching. The ELA committee would like each classroom to decorate their doors to show off their students' reading progress throughout the month. Let's get creative! We will further discuss this at our staff meeting on Monday.
CLASSROOM TEACHERS:
Now that we have wrapped up IREADY, please click the link to select a time to go over your iReady data in Math and Reading. This is a ten minute check-in to review data. Thank you!

SIP WALK-THROUGH REMINDERS OF Classroom layout:
The following are things that are to be displayed in your classroom if they have not been done so:
- Please make sure to display a few samples of student work along the walls of your classroom and/or outside your hallway area. Writing/Reading/Math are part of our SIP initiatives
- Please have out your Binder for your Reading/Data binder that provides information of how you track your students learning
- Daily Schedule and Objectives should be visible in the classroom
- Vocabulary wall should be displayed in the classroom, this could also be the phonics wall
- Math should be visible
- Reading bags with reflection notebook should be visible for viewing
- PBIS/Class Dojo/Restorative Practices, calming corner/zones of regulation should be visible
- Anchor Charts of topics covered and Thinking Maps should be utilized and displayed for viewing
- Whole Group/Small group/one-on-one instruction should be occurring daily
BE ON THE LOOKOUT SIP LOOK-FORS (This will be happening sometime in February)
The following are initiatives we placed in our School Improvement Plan and should continue to be implemented within your classroom. February we will have visitors in our building who will be viewing 'look-fors'.
Area 1: ELA: Explicit vocabulary instruction AND Reading Bags with writing reflections; ELA Block Workshop Method
Area 2: Numeracy: Fluency and Math Workshop Method
Area 3: Writing: Writer's Workshop--aligned as a district with common language, blueprints, non-negotiables, and rubrics
RESTORATIVE PRACTICE
Please continue to have these sessions as needed with your class. It is important to have conversations with our students to help guide them in the right direction!

REMINDERS:
- Please make sure you are viewing the news every morning. If you have any feedback or ideas you want to pass along regarding the News please fill out the form. Husky Daily News
- RECESS times--please make sure you have an appropriate time slot. Thank you!(When outside please make sure you are monitoring students and walk the playground area)
- GOOGLE PHOTO FOLDERS--These were shared in the beginning of the year, I have been selecting photos and posting them on Facebook. If you have any photos that you would like to have posted please make sure to place them in these photos and I will be posting every week. Thank you!
- READING BAGS: This is part of our school initiative and expectation. Parents were informed in the beginning of the year that their child would be receiving leveled reading books in a reading bag with a journal to be able to reflect on their reading. Please make sure all our students have one, thank you!
- Class Data Sheet
- Please make sure to be updating your class data sheet. This is a great resource that will help for support staff to be able to view as well as for your viewing during PLC time.

REMINDER REGARDING MRS. HAWROT'S STUDENTS:
-All students in Mrs. Hawrot's class are to be invited to any field trip or party that occurs in their assigned classroom. If they are on your roster please make sure to include them with your class events. Sometimes the parents choose to not send them, or we will have to send a paraprofessional, but all of the students on your roster are to be included!
-Also, please make sure to take attendance for the students who are under your class roster. There have been issues with the attendance tracker on MISTAR for the students who attend Mrs. Hawrot's class.
EVALUATIONS
- Please add a time and day if you have not received a google calendar invite from me yet. Thank you! Recommended Observation Time
SCHOOL PARKING LOT:
Our parking lot is narrow and tight especially when buses are entering or exiting. Please make sure to be driving safely and cautiously in the lot everyday! Thank you!
Attendance Policy:
- Please make sure you are taking attendance promptly everyday! This needs to be completed before 9am, parents are receiving phone calls if their child is not marked "present" or are marked "absent" for verification, so PLEASE take attendance promptly. Thank you!
- Mrs. Chehab will mark the tardies after 9:00am.!
- All students who are in Mrs. Hawrot's class please make sure to mark their attendance accordingly. Thank you!
FIELD TRIPS:
-There needs to be a requisition approved by the principal before a permission slip is sent out
-Please stay with your grade level when planning field trips
-With limited buses parents are encouraged to drive their own vehicle unless teachers have space on the bus
-No siblings allowed to any field trips when parents are chaperoning
