Weekly Highlights

  • Happy Teacher Appreciation Week Teachers!
  • Monday PD: All Teacher report to the Library at 2:20pm for MOSL Information
  • A new dismissal protocol is in place: ALL STUDENTS GRADES K-5 that are picked up MUST BE SIGNED OUT DAILY. PLEASE read the Dismissal memo and make sure to r implement starting Monday 5/2 at dismissal.
  • Please continue to encourage our students to study for the PS107X SPELLING BEE
  • ALL Classrooms Grades 1-5 should have the NEW CUBES posters up. Please remove old poster and recycle.


Announcements:

  • ALL STAFF MUST be at Dismissal. Teachers grades 4 & 5 you must come to the dismissal area at 2:10pm for dismissal.

  • For the safety of all students: All children must be ESCORTED to the bathroom or to their assigned classrooms.
  • Teachers please review Chancellors Regulation 420 and 421.

Important Reminders:

  • Morning line up @ 8:00 a.m. Auditorium All staff (K-5 teachers, ESL, Speech and Language, SETTS, Coaches--- to report to the Auditorium)
  • Period 7 ends at 2:10pm
  • End of day dismissal @ 2:10 p.m.- 2:20pm --- All staff (K-5 teachers, ESL, Speech and Language, SETTS, Coaches--- to report to the Auditorium/Little Yard)


Monday 5/2---Day: ELA, Math, Guided Reading K-5, Writing, Science

  • Writing: Continued poetry unit for Grades K-5.
  • 9am/11:35am Guided Reading Grades K-5: Groups should be scheduled, independent tasks for students in place, organized guided reading material should be visible. For guided reading material visit room 211.Active flexible groups with task cards, & learning resource tools, i.e. graphic organizers, manipulatives should be evident.
  • Monday PD: Topic: MOSL End of Year Assessments--- ALL Teachers in the Library at 2:20pm.
  • Paraprofessionals: MOSL End of Year Assessments


Tuesday 5/3--- Day: ELA, Math, Guided Reading/2nd Math Block, Writing, Science

  • Grades 3-5 ELA MOSL ASSESSMENT. Teachers in Grade 2 please be mindful students are testing, the test is untimed and help keep hallways quiet. Thank you in advance.
  • Writing: Continued poetry unit for Grades K-5.
  • 9am/11:35am Guided Reading Grades K-5: Groups should be scheduled, independent tasks for students in place, organized guided reading material should be visible. For guided reading material visit room 211.Active flexible groups with task cards, & learning resource tools, i.e. graphic organizers, manipulatives should be evident.
  • Tuesday Parent Engagement/Inquiry Time: Topic: MOSL End of Year Assessments--- ALL Teachers in the Library at 2:20pm.

Wednesday 5/4--- Day: ELA, Math, Guided Reading, Writing, Science

  • Field Trips: Grades 3-5 Explorers to METS Game/ Selected students and Staff to Lion King


Thursday 5/5- Day: ELA, Math, Guided Reading, 2nd Math Block- Word Problems using Cubes Grades 1-5, Social Studies

  • Grades 3-5 MATH MOSL ASSESSMENT. Teachers in Grade 2 please be mindful students are testing, the test is untimed and help keep hallways quiet. Thank you in advance.
  • 9am/11:35am Guided Reading Grades K-5: Groups should be scheduled, independent tasks for students in place, organized guided reading material should be visible. For guided reading material visit room 211.Active flexible groups with task cards, & learning resource tools, i.e. graphic organizers, manipulatives should be evident.
  • 2nd Math Block: Grades 1-5: Students should be working on solving word problems in their math notebooks using CUBES. Students should solve 3 problems during a 40 min block. 10-15min should be used to review 1 of the problems. Reviewing is crucial for students understanding and misunderstandings to be discussed.
  • 2nd Math BlocK: Grades K: Students should engage in center math activities and small group reteach lessons that support areas identified by data as areas of weakness. NO WHOLE GROUP RETEACHING.


Friday 5/6- Day: ELA, Math, Student Conferencing/Goals, 2nd Math Block- Word Problems using Cubes Grades 1-5, Social Studies

  • TENTATIVE: Grade 4 SCIENCE MOSL ASSESSMENT. Teachers in Grade 2 please be mindful students are testing, the test is untimed and help keep hallways quiet. Thank you in advance.
  • Field Trip: Pre-K to Central Park Zoo
  • 2nd Math Block: Grades 1-5: Students should be working on solving word problems in their math notebooks using CUBES. Students should solve 3 problems during a 40 min block. 10-15min should be used to review 1 of the problems. Reviewing is crucial for students understanding and misunderstandings to be discussed.
  • 9am/11:35am Binders/Conferencing: Groups of students should be scheduled, independent tasks for students in place, teachers should be reviewing data (Grades 3-5 Benchmark Assessments/ DRA scores/ Weekly Quizzes)
  • 2nd Math BlocK: Grades K: Students should engage in center math activities and small group reteach lessons that support areas identified by data as areas of weakness. NO WHOLE GROUP RETEACHING.


Ongoing Reminders:

  • All STAFF must be at their Morning post at 8:00 am and Dismissal post at 2:10 pm.
  • Period 7 ends at 2:10 pm ---- Dismissal post is from 2:10pm - 2:20pm
  • Book Baggies: All students should have book baggies with just right books: 5 books max levels A-K / 3 books max levels L-Z--- Check students books for accuracy. Students should be shopping for books weekly and MUST keep a weekly reading log.
  • As you greet our rockets this week please remember to greet our learners with kindness, organized, colorful, learning environments and with honest preparation for becoming literate, mathematicians, scientists, historians, critical thinkers willing and able to solve world problems, in other words PLAN, meaningful, productive interactive, and engaging lessons
