STUDENT SUCCESSES
Kansas History Day Winners!
West Middle School would like to congratulate 7th grader Caitlyn Barry, 6th grader, Kyla Meikle, 6th grader Zacha Zavarse, and 6th grader Stella Dorssom for their hard work and participation in the Kansas State History Day competition.
These students competed in Topeka, Kansas in a statewide competition on Saturday and we are so proud of them. Caitlyn did a website project on the fall of the Soviet Union and came in fourth place in the state. The 6th grade girls made a documentary film about forced assimilation in indigenous schools focusing and came in first place. The documentary will be competing in the national competition June.
Again, congratulations to the these students for all they have accomplished!

Physical Information
The Lawrence High Athletic Department is doing a huge push for all USD497 student/athletes to get their physicals. Reminder, a physical dated after May 1 will be needed to compete in athletics for the 2022-2023 school year.
One of the pitfalls in student/athletes competing in athletics is the "paperwork" and physicals are difficult to attain for various reasons. This is one way of ensuring that the most important piece of "paperwork" is done ahead of time.
The physicals will take place in the Lawrence High School Gymnasium for $25 on May 18.
Here is the KSHSAA form that will need to be filled out on May 18.
