This session will take a look at new and recent young adult literature selections of several genres. Teachers will walk away with a book list and lessons to go with many of the titles. Lessons will encourage creativity, lesson extension, and student choice of reading materials for all levels of learners.

This session will look at the new TexQuest resources of ProQuest Sirs Discover, TeachingBooks.net and Ebsco Ebooks. Learn about the ebooks available through Ebsco and how to incorporate them into your elementary classroom. TeachingBooks.net has teaching materials on thousands of books, along with author interviews and book trailers to help support the books being used in your classroom. ProQuest has many resources in different formats available for research. Learn about special features for all three resources and how they can enhance your curriculum for all levels of learners. The session will be interactive and include an activity that can be used in a teaching environment.

In this workshop, librarians and teachers will discover ways to create learning opportunities for their students in the library. We will look at different resources, both print and digital, that can be used for research projects, library skills lessons, makerspaces and more to meet the needs of all levels of learners. The sequence of library skills will also be discussed and how to correlate them with the ELA TEKS.
