Family, Friends, and Reflection!
As we enter our holiday break and wind down to spend time with family and friends I want to use this newsletter to do a little recap of our first few months of school. As you relax and spend time with your families, you will set school and your classrooms aside...for a day or two (because you're in the education field)! Enjoy your downtime and time with family. As you return to reflecting on your year be sure to reflect on how many new things you've tried or learned that led to your students being more engaged in their learning or expressing more creativity as you gave them more freedom of choice.
In the last few months, I have seen an incredible increase in the number of staff stepping out of their comfort zones to try new things with their students. You've all taken a new path at one point or another to provide your students with more choice or new modalities for them to express their learning. I loved all the new ideas, and questions from staff. I loved seeing what the students were creating, and I always enjoy sitting down with students to listen to them express their learning with excitement and in-depth description. I am excited for the second half of the school year and all of the new ideas and projects that you will create for your students.
I look forward to helping you and your students any way I can and anticipate more amazing conversations lie ahead.
Over the holiday break, I will be trying something new myself...offering a unique style of PD for you. I will hold two "Polar PD's" for you through Skype (one on SPARK and one on Formative Assessments). Some may consider them PJ PD days! If you up for joining me for a new style of PD, please see below for the days and times of these Skype PD sessions. I will also be hosting a local COFFEE EDU at Bee's Cafe in Seneca Falls; this is a time to come chat over coffee about any education topic you'd like (see below for more information).
In closing, I wish you and your families a very Happy Holidays! Enjoy your time with family and friends while being sure to take time for yourself to relax and unwind!
