RICHLAND REFLECTIONS
Week of 5/11/20 Distance Learning at Richland Elementary

Dear Richland Families,
Happy Mothers' Day to all of the moms, grandmothers, aunts, and family members who find themselves mothers and teachers. I hope you enjoy something special on this day.
We are excited to share our preparation for several virtual Richland events this Spring! Next week is International Week, and we encourage you to follow the Richland Flipgrid directions below to participate. Reference the front page of Richland's website, res.qcsd.org, for all distance learning resources and information.
Thank you to the many families who completed our Distance Learning Experience Survey. We appreciate the time you took to share your overwhelming support. I invite you to a parent night this Wednesday at 6:30 when I will address questions as noted in survey responses. The Google Meet link to join is below.
Have a Happy Mothers' Day, a great week, and I hope to see you on Wednesday night!
Stay Calm, Stay Home, and Stay Safe.
We are in this together!

WELCOME TO RICHLAND LEADERS FLIPGRID!

Introducing the Richland Leaders Flipgrid! We miss you! As referenced in our latest Richland Reflections newsletter, we have created a school-wide Flipgrid site as a way to stay connected and share special times. In Flipgrid, students and staff record short videos based on different topics and prompts.
Some of your children have used Flipgrid in their classes, and I have no doubt that they will lead the way with this!
Step 1: Click the link for the Richland Leaders Flipgrid site.: https://flipgrid.com/richlandleaders
Step 2: Your child will see this on their screen.

Click the “Log in with Google” button. If your child is on a school Chromebook, it will automatically log them in. If your child is logged in on a school iPad, it will log them in. If not logged in, or on a different device, the log in will be your child’s school email and password. Your child’s teacher can provide this information if you do not have it already.
Step 3: Your child will see this on the screen:

We represent many different cultures at Richland, so tell us about yours!
Where are your parents, grandparents, and ancestors from?
What languages do you speak at home?
What cultural traditions do you have?
Are there any special meals or foods you like to cook?
Show us any objects or artifacts that are important to your family.
SCENES FROM OUR WEEK!
RICHLAND'S GOT PRIDE & TALENT!

Welcome to Richland's Got Pride and Talent! Richland’s Got Pride and Talent is a combination of Project PROUD and the Talent Show. This year it is open to ALL grade levels! Let's showcase Habit #8-Find Your Voice!
If you would like to show off one of your wonderful talents and/or amazing projects to our Richland community, we would love for you to submit a video to Flipgrid. The time limit for your video is 2 minutes. You can submit both a talent and project in one video, if you’d like. Also, if you are doing a video with a sibling, please choose one grade level for submission and then a teacher will duplicate your video to make sure it is in the other grade level(s).
Submissions for your video will be open on May 18th, and the last day to submit your video is June 8th. All video submissions will be through our Richland Flipgrid's page. Once submissions are open, look for your grade level in the TOPICS menu of the Richland Leaders Flipgrid. (see below for screenshot) Once you submit your video, a teacher will approve it. Once it is approved, you will see your video on the grid for everyone else to view! Please make sure your video and song (if applicable) are appropriate for school.
Have fun! We can’t wait to see your video!

LEAN INTO LEADERSHIP

MEALS AVAILABLE FOR ALL STUDENTS AT RICHLAND M, W, F 11:00-1:00

The Quakertown Community School District is aware of the increasing financial hardships faced by area families in these challenging times. We encourage QCSD families going through financial difficulties to pick up food for their students.
Bagged breakfasts and lunches are available to all families for pick up at Richland, Pfaff, and the High School M, W, F between 11:00 and 1:00. Students do not need to be present.
SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES
Start your week off right with a mindful Monday! Check out Mindfulness with Mrs. Schmolk each week for resources to support your children during this time and support for parents too!
A MESSAGE FROM MRS. STAUFFER, OUR SCHOOL NURSE

Though some have or soon will expire, I realize that some of you are in need of the medication. Unfortunately, none of the district nurses have been allowed to enter their school to collect the medication.
To prepare for the day I can enter, I’m requesting you email me your best contact information by May 15th. Though I do not know when I can enter my office, this will help me easily contact you and distribute the medication in a timely manner.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult and unusual situation.
