Much Ado About Nothing
by Shayne McPeek
Adam Sandler as Benedick
i picked Adam Sandler to play Beatrice for the main reason that they are both two extremely witty people. Nearly every movie that Sandler has been in he has played the funny character. Another example is the short temper that Benedick has. The movie, Happy Gilmore, Sandler played a character who was very funny but also had a short temper.
Cameron Diaz as Beatrice
I picked Cameron Diaz to play Beatrice also for the reason that they are both funny. Beatrice is so similar to Benedick that the reasoning for picking their characters is the same. Diaz has also been in mostly comedy movies. Also, until recently, Diaz had never been in a serious relationship; just like Beatrice.
Zac Efron as Claudio
I picked Zac Efron to play Claudio mainly because of the physical appearance. They are both extremely attractive people; both having women swoon over them. Efron seems like the modern day Claudio with the ladies. Another reason is because they are both short on trust. Efron played Troy in High School Musical, where he got jealous when Gabriella was hanging out with another guy; just like how Claudio was so quick to lose trust in Hero and the truth.
Don John convincing Claudio that Hero has been unfaithful
This event in the play is important because it changed entire story around at a point and it is the part that reveals the most about each character. It moved the plot in a different direction; instead of Claudio and Hero getting married, they ended up splitting. This event showed how evil Don John was, how easy it is to manipulate Claudio, how fast Leonato will turn on family for reputation, and how fragile Hero is.
Borachio being overheard by the Watch
This event is also important because it was meant to show Hero's innocence. It would have moved the plot back to the right direction if Leonato would have made time to listen. Which shows how little his character cares when he has bigger things going on. Also it shows how unintelligent the Watch is by not being able to speak correctly so Leonato would have listened.
Hero's innocence being restored
This event in the play is important because it is what gives the happy ending of the story. Once Hero's innocence is proved; forgiveness is shown in a lot of characters. Hero forgives the characters who did not believe her. Claudio tries to make up not trusting by "marrying Hero's cousin". The only happy ending that did not happen is for Don John.
Little Toy Guns by Carrie Underwood
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxOYvI0pfLo
I picked this song for the lies/deceit theme of Much Ado About Nothing. In the play Don John lied to Claudio and deceived him into believing that Hero was unfaithful. He used his words to tell the lies and to intentionally hurt them. In the song it talks about how she wished that words wouldn't hurt as much as they do when someone is using them in a hurting manor.
"I wish words were like little toy guns
No sting, no hurt no one, Just a bang bang rollin' off your tongue"
In the story Hero is hurt so deeply that the words being said about her feel like little toy guns coming at her; sort of killing her inside.
