Thank you, Jackson Parents; Thank you, Jackson Staff

Thank you, parents, for you flexibility and understanding as we had to shift to remote learning on Thursday. I know this sudden shift was difficult on many families. Our staff had worked really hard covering each other's classes, doing extra duties, missing lunch/plan periods, and pitching in where ever they could to prevent us from having to move to remote learning. However, due to the number of staff who were ill and going to be out on Thursday, we had no choice but to shift to remote. I want you to know how much I appreciate the Jackson staff for going above and beyond to help each other. They are super heros! If you happen to have a moment, please reach out to your child's teacher and thank them for all they do. They are well deserving of a HUGE thank you!

Rotary Reading Incentive - Turn in your Reading Slips

The Rotary Clubs of Norman are supporting reading at Jackson Elementary by offering weekly incentives and rewarding growth on FAST assessments.

Weekly Drawing - reading incentives

  • When a child reads a book (independently 2nd- 5th or read aloud PK - 1st), they will fill out a slip w/ their name, teacher, title of book and put it in a box in the library. You may get the slips from your child's teacher.

  • The students will put the slip in the designated box in the library.

  • Every Friday, a drawing will be held and one boy and one girl will receive a $10 gift card to Wal-Mart.

Bike Give-a-way

  • Based on reading growth, measured through FAST progress monitoring and benchmark assessments, every student showing growth will be entered in a drawing to win a bicycle .

  • One boy bike and one girl bike will be given at the end of this semester.

Clothing Donations Needed

Our Health Clinic stocks clothing for emergency needs like spilled milk, nose bleeds, or restroom accidents. These items help students get back to class quickly as well as preventing parents from leaving work to bring dry/clean clothing. We are in need of the following items:

  • Gently used shirts and pants (sweatpants or elastic waist pants are best)
  • New children's underwear and socks

Thank you for your help in meeting the needs of our students.
