Message from the Principal . . .
Thank you to Heidi Duff for providing the information for this weeks message. She and Ariel were responsible for coordinating a funding proposal which was submitted to the Moorings Park Foundation and which was funded. Furthermore, they have formed a scholarship committee for each school, LWIT - Marie Coleman, Jack Izbicki, and Heidi Duff; and LWTHS - Abby Lambley, Lynne Bruce, and Jeff Rexford.
Do you have a student in need or a maybe one who just doesn't have enough funds to pay for something necessary for class? We now have funds to help your students! We had the great fortune to receive a $20,000 grant from Moorings Park to serve as an emergency fund for both schools. In addition, it’s time to reap the benefits of all your hard work at the annual Fly In Cruise In! Funds are now available to students you identify to have a routine or emergency need. Teachers, staff, advisors and counselors can use the attached form to nominate a student for consideration. Heidi will be emailing you the Moorings Park proposal as well as the Fly In Cruise In nomination form and the Moorings Park application.
While the funds are for both schools, the application process will be handled by the respective student services. Nominations and applications should be sent electronically or handed in to the appropriate student services and will be reviewed by the LWIT or LWTHS scholarship committee. We have a wonderful opportunity to make a real difference in many of our students lives with these two funding sources! We haven’t set limits on funds to be received, but we do need to be good stewards of the money so we can best benefit our students. Heidi will be emailing you the application.
In other news -The District has given access to lynda.com to all CCPS employees. Lynda.com is an online learning company which offers short courses on a variety of topics ranging from Outlook, apps for teachers, wordpress, photography, marketing, Microsoft Office products, and the list goes on and on. If integrating technology into your lessons is one of your CTEM goals lynda.com is an excellent resource for you.
I am sharing the instructions via a slideshare presentation I created. I used skitch.com (learn more about Skitch on lynda.com) to create the computer screen shots.
