ALL ABOUT OUR ABC'S!
January 23,2015
Dear Parents,
This week we concentrated on language and literacy development. We worked on letter knowledge, phonemic awareness and concepts of print. We are learning about the way letters and sounds work together to form words. Phonemic awareness and phonics are the first steps a child makes in the journey of beginning to read. Whether they are aware of it or not, by listening to and playing around with the sounds in language, your child is building an important foundation for learning to read. These playful process in our different centers this week are a part of phonemic awareness and the best predictor of reading success in young children.
