HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 2 Week 8 Friday 11 June
FROM MARK
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Evolution takes many forms and this iteration is really powerful, and can be quite confronting for some. Trust in God is the message.
Thursday’s interschool wintersports carnival involving our Year Six students will be a huge day! Traditionally, this is an eagerly anticipated event and we wish every one of our children the best of luck as they try their hardest.
Best wishes for a great weekend. Keep well!

Gastro & Colds - Update
- No gastro at school this week. Fantastic!
- Far fewer children with colds attended school this week, meaning that the risk of illness spreading to other children, and to their teachers is much reduced. Thank you - your understanding and support means a lot to everyone at Holy Rosary.

SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN AFTER SCHOOL #4
By way of supporting our community we have permitted use of the play equipment in the Dominican Playground after school until 3.20pm.
I am disappointed to report that some children chose to go to the Veritas Garden instead and smash rocks. It would appear that a lack of supervision was at least part of the issue.
This is dangerous, destructive, unnecessary and definitely not the Holy Rosary way. If it happens again school will have to close from the 3.05 bell and no areas will be available for use.
Thank you for your support.

Holy Rosary Cross Country Carnival 2021
The Year 3 to 6 students will be involved in the Holy Rosary Cross Country Carnival on Friday June 25. The carnival will take place at Jackadder Reserve in Doubleview and will commence at approximately 9am.
The approximate timetable for the day is in the table below. The times below will vary on the day with the flow of the carnival and should be used as a rough guide only.
If driving to the event please pay close attention to parking signs. Rangers have warned they will fine spectators on the day if they park in unauthorized spaces so please ensure you follow the rules to avoid such fines.
I would really appreciate another 8 helpers on the day. It would be nice if we could have a few people who could then swap at regular intervals to make sure everyone can see their son or daughters race. The carnival will be quite informal and all jobs are relatively easy but I would love to hear from you as many hands make light work.
If you are able to help at the carnival, please email me through our school email at admin@hrs.wa.edu.au with ROB in the subject heading indicating that you are prepared to lend a hand.

PASTORAL AND WELL-BEING NEWS
There has been lots of great social and emotional learning happening at HR. 2D have just completed their Feelings and Friends program. For 10 weeks, they have been developing their friendship skills, emotion regulation, body clues and learning how they can adapt to change and big feelings. 2C will commence the program in Week 9.
Our first Seasons For Growth group celebrated completing their program last week. This small group of year 4 students worked so well as they navigated ways to help them successfully manage change and emotions. Two more groups of year 4 students will complete the program this year, and reconnectors are planned for all past SFG groups.
Our year 6s are very much enjoying term 2 of Council Groups. Our Community Group has been helping the teachers in classrooms, Pastoral Group is preparing to DJ the 2 school discos, the Environment Council has been preparing the Veritas Garden and will be writing a submission to the City of Stirling for some native plants along with the Christian Service group, who have tidied up the garden walkway on route to staff room.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Holly Butson
LIBRARY NEWS
We are so lucky to have a beautiful library space here at HR. Your library is open and attended on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. All classes borrow books from the library weekly, with kindy starting in term 3. Students are expected to bring their HR library bag and books each week to their class session, even if they are renewing them – they can read them while the others borrow. If a student forgets their bag and books on their borrowing day, they are most welcome to borrow before school Tues, Wed and Thurs from 8.30-8.45am or at lunchtimes on Tuesday and Thursday. These times are written on the library door. Students with overdue books will be unable to borrow until books are returned and emails with information about overdues is forwarded to parents via the class teacher. In circumstances where a book is lost or damaged, please contact the library and the student will be requested to replace the book. Thank you for your support and please feel free to contact me with any queries.
