NERO
The Last of the Julio-Claudian Dynasty
Emperor from 54 A.D. to 68 A.D.
He was the first Roman emperor to commit suicide.
This fact isn't necessarily important, but nonetheless it is very interesting. The Great Fire of Rome occurred during his rule. Nero himself was blamed for the fire, mostly because his rule was very turbulent, and he committed suicide rather than facing false charges. His death caused Rome to fall into a civil war.
Nero wasn't meant to be the emperor of Rome.
Nero was only able to be emperor because his uncle married Nero's mother (the uncle's niece) and adopted Nero, making Nero the heir.
He was a little on the chubby side.
This fact is very interesting because you typically think of all the ancient people as being physically fit, but here is the head of the greatest empire in the world being fat. It just goes to show that rule really was all about blood and not necessarily quality.
