ACTS 7th Grade Newsletter

March 9-13, 2015

Science - Mrs. Sexton

Students will be taking their common assessment for this nine weeks on Tuesday, March 10th. They should study the same notes used for the Cells & Heredity Test. Students are encouraged to go back over all of the Study Island lessons used to cover this unit. We will review on Monday. After the test we will continue our unit on Human Body Systems.

Math - Mr. Smith

7th grade math students completed their partner quiz on Chapter 12 this week. Grades are posted to power school. We will start surface area and volume next week.

Several students have asked about purchasing a graphing calculator for next year. As a parent and teacher, I think this is a good idea. I have spoken to our Algebra 1 teacher and the calculator suggested is the TI 84. These are not inexpensive calculators, but they will be a tool for your child through college.

I put a link on my website from the TI website which compares the different TI graphing calculators. They are not required, but very helpful.

We will celebrate Pi Day next Friday on March 13th. Your child is welcome to bring his/her favorite circular foods to share. No nuts please

Science - Mrs. Griffin

The students will finish with Genetics and Heredity Unit. They will take their test on March 13th. They will also complete a Disease Project in class this week.
