If you are interested in teaching a class, please follow the procedure below to submit a proposal. The staff development committee will review proposals and communicate with you the next steps in the process. Those selected to teach classes will receive compensation for the class plus a half hour per hour prep. Attending staff will receive CEU certificates.
SAMPLE MESSAGE TO POST IF YOU ARE MISSING SOME OF CONFERENCE NIGHT...
Below you will find a sample message from my child's teacher he sent to parents being he will be gone for the entire conference night.
If you are going to be gone for any part of our conference night, please be sure to communicate that to your students and families. Thank you.
Hello all,
Next Tuesday, October 10th is parent teacher conferences. I, unfortunately, have a cross country meet to attend that same evening so I will not be around for conferences. I wanted to make sure you still had a chance to touch bases with me about your student if you so desire. The grades are up to date in the grade book. You can certainly email me questions any time. If you would like something more personal like a phone call or an in-person meeting, let me know some times that would work for you.
If your student's grade is below where you feel it should be, please know that I am available to work with them individually before school any day I do not have a meeting. Students can also come down during religion time, homeroom and often during their study hall. Students who take me up on this offer generally see very quick gains on their performance as we can quickly diagnose what they personally are struggling with. As midquarter in not a permanent grade it is not too late to fix it.
Have a good day.
Staff and Student Photos
For school pictures this year, students will be coming out of their Science class. I have placed “save the date” flyers in the mailboxes of the science teachers. If a student does not have a science class, I have placed the flyers in their EL class, case manager, etc. Please hand out the flyers on Monday, October 9th. Let me know if you need more or if I missed someone.
I will get the picture schedule out to you early next week. I will also get the picture order envelopes to you for hand out on Wednesday, October 11.
Reminders:
· Students will need to bring the order envelopes with payment on picture day. Students may also order online.
· Students are not required to purchase pictures, but all students must have their picture taken for use in Infinite Campus.
New this year!!
All staff are asked to have their picture taken. This picture will be used for Staff ID badges and in Infinite Campus as well. J

Guidelines for tardy and unexcused absences
FMS Tardy Policy
*This process will start over each quarter*
Students will be required to scan and log on to the tardy log in the classroom when they are late to class without a pass
3 tardies: Office staff check-in with student and dialer goes home to parents
5-7 tardies: 1 After School detention and admin phone call home
8-9 tardies: 2 After School detention and admin phone call home
10+ tardies: After School detention- create plan to stop being tardy to class, parent meeting/possible ISS/possible escort to class/possible Saturday School
After school detention will go from 2:40-3:30 pm. A parent/guardian will have to come and pick the student up from school after detention is served. Parent/guardian will be notified of this in the dialer that gets sent home.
Unexcused Absences for Skipping Class
*This process will start over each quarter*
1: Check-in with an office staff member about absence and dialer goes home to parents
2-4: After school detention and an admin phone call home with student present
5-6: Extended School on Early Out Day
*Students will serve 1 after school detention for every hour skipped.
*Showing up more than 10 minutes late without a pass=an unexcused absence (not a tardy)
*If Extended School is skipped, a parent meeting will be required before the student can return to school in order to put a plan in place on how to improve.
After school detention will go from 2:40-3:30 pm. A parent/guardian will have to come and pick the student up from school after detention is served. Parent/guardian will be notified of this in the dialer that gets sent home.

Attendance:
A reminder that attendance needs to be taken every hour. Student accountability and parent notification are two important parts of our educational systems. Inaccurate phone dialers are happening on a somewhat regular basis. Accurate attendance reporting is a must. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
FYI - follow up on student bussing...

Re: Activities Transportation After School - Middle School to the High School
Coaches,
Beginning on Monday, October 9th, Faribault Transportation will be providing a shuttle from the Middle School to the High School after school for students that participate in Activities. Details are below. Please pass this memo out to all your families in this situation.
- Students will be dismissed at 2:44 from their last hour class at FMS
- The Activities Bus will depart from FMS at 2:48
- We realize this is a short window, so the kids will need to be prepared and move quickly after released from class. This bus needs to arrive at Lincoln for a normal after school route
- Route 30 (Bus 42) will be the bus providing the shuttle. It will be parked as the first bus outside, closest to the school. It will drop students off on the North side of the High School. The route will be run daily.
All the best,
Danny DuChene
