Dear Folsom Families,

The holiday season at Folsom brings a lot of exciting events to our students. We are hosting a Christmas/Holiday Spirit Week during the week of December 17th. Students will have the chance to participate in an ugly sweater day to wearing pajamas to school! Please read the newsletter below for an outline of activities.

We are also excited to announce that motivational speaker, Mr. Reggie Dabbs, will speak to our students on December 12th. Reggie will also have a night presentation for Folsom families on December 12th starting at 6:30 pm in the all-purpose room. Please come out for a wonderful night with the family. Lastly, this is the last call for families to nominate a teacher or educational services professional who is dedicated, inspiring, and making a difference at Folsom School. The Governor’s Educator of the Year (GEOY) recognition program aims to recognize educators and encourage them to become champions for education and advocates for students and teachers.

Please take the time to recommend a staff member for the Governor’s Educator of the Year Program by completing the nomination form located on the school website’s banner ( All recommendation letters shall be sent to Dr. Mazzoni via email at or to the main office by December 6, 2018.

Choice Applications

The Choice Application Process for the 2019-2020 school year is happening NOW!

If you currently have a Choice Student enrolled at Folsom School and would like to apply for a sibling in grades K-8 to attend Folsom School in the 2019-2020 school year, now is the time. The application Deadline is December 3, 2018.

Nurse Notes

No Medication of any kind including over the counter drugs can be dispensed at the school without a Dr.'s prescription. All medication must be brought to school by a parent. Parents must sign a permission form before medicine can be dispensed.

Flu symptoms: Sudden fever, feeling weak or overly tired, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headache, chills, body aches, vomiting and/or diarrhea.

Reminders: All Pre-K students need proof of a flu shot sent to the nurse before Friday, December 21, 2018 or they will not be able to return to school on January 3, 2019.

Positive Behavior Student Support is looking for donations in the form of gift cards appropriate for students in grades K - 8 for our Holiday Event.

Folsom School will have a "Giving Tree" this year.

Information was sent home with all students in November.

Folsom Home & School Association

Holiday Shop for Students will be held the week of December 10th-14th. Information on date and time your student will attend the Holiday Shop will be sent home soon. The classroom schedule is also posted on the website calendar.

Otis Spunkmeyer cookie pick up is scheduled for December 12, 2018. Pick-up will be at the front of the school in the vault and the times are: 1:30 pm-2:30 pm and 4:00 pm-5:00 pm.

**Orders will not be given out during student dismissal time**

The Christmas Dance will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm.

The cost is $5.00 per family and is for students in grades PK through 4.

Cinderella Cheesecakes will be delivered on December 20, 2018 from 4:30 pm-7:00 pm. Please pull around the back of the school to the gym doors to pick up your cheesecakes.

Physical Education and Athletic Department

Middle School:

Uniforms need to be worn to participate in physical education class.

Remember to check which day students have physical education.

*Students who are not prepared will sit out and receive a not prepared/no participation grade.

example: 3 unprepared/no participation will lower a grade 6 points (2 points each incident)

Students can wear sweatshirts and/ sweatpants over uniforms for outside activities in November.

T-shirts $5.00 Shorts $11.00 (6th -8th graders)


Reminder: Check which day students have physical education.

For Safety Purposes: proper attire (no dresses) and sneakers are needed for physical education class. Jackets and warm clothes are important for our outside activities

this time of year.

Athletic Department:

Sports Physicals must be completed before a student can participate in a sport. Physical forms can be found on the Folsom School website.

Things to Remember

All personal items need to be labeled with your students name. Unidentified items not picked up will be donated.

A Driver License or Photo ID is needed when entering the school.

When sending payments in with your child, PLEASE send it in an envelope labeled with your child's name, homeroom teacher, and what the payment is for. CASH should never be sent in for Cafeteria payments. Visit the Parent Portal to make on line payments for lunch.

Anytime you are changing your child's dismissal routine, please send in a note.
