  • Nematodes are very tiny roundworms that are often parasitic in nature, meaning that they live off of other living organisms

Other types of Nematodes:

  • One type is known as the hookworm,which has a hooklike mouthpart that attaches itself to the wall of the gut, puncturing the blood vessels and feeding on the blood
  • Another type is the C. Elegan, which is a free-living, transparent nematode, about 1 mm in length, that lives in temperate soil environments
  • The "C" stands for Caenorhabditis
  • The Pinworm is a common intestinal parasite that is found in humans
