While your student is at home, encourage them to spend some time playing their instrument! I hope that music can be a creative outlet for your students and that they can find joy in playing their instrument. Any time playing their instrument can be beneficial-whether it's playing one song, or playing through all of our concert songs! Your student can also join our Flipgrid online classroom for practice ideas and community. Go to flipgrid.com and enter the following code for either Beginning or Advanced orchestra:
Beginning Orchestra: 5thorch
Advanced Orchestra: 6thorch
I'm looking forward to working with your students again in the future!-Ms. Marston
Hello Wickham students and families,
I am thinking of you during this time of school closure due to COVID-19. School being closed may bring a lot of questions from your children. You may have questions about area resources, how to access counseling services, and how to talk with children about the world’s current situation. I will still be available during this time to speak with you or your child and provide support.
There are a few ways you can contact me. I am available over email at wattiez.mallory@iowacityschools.org. In addition, I use the app TalkingPoints which can translate messages between us and go directly to your phone via SMS. If you would like to talk with me using TalkingPoints, you can download the parent app and use the code RPTEQK to join my class “Mrs. W- Counseling.” I have attached a letter with more information about how to use TalkingPoints. These forms of communication are not as secure and confidential as meeting with me in person, but are options for you to use during social distancing.
I look forward to hearing from you! I miss all the students and am looking forward to being back at school after the closure. Please feel welcome to reach out to me during this time.
Sincerely,
Mallory Wattiez
School Counselor
Wouldn't it be fun to hunt for Wizards?! Students can color the wizard attached and place it in their front windows. That way when families are out walking they can hunt for Wickham Wizards!
