PRINCIPAL MESSAGE

Thank you to all of the families who were able to attend Open House. We appreciate the opportunity to connect with you as we embark on a great school year! We are here to support your student so please don't hesitate to reach out if you need something.

Our Chromebook Challenge has been a success over the first five days. Our 5th grade is currently in the lead with an average of 91% of Chromebooks coming back charged! 6th grade has an average of 77% and we currently have two days left in the challenge. The winning grade level will get a prize.

Please remember to update Final Forms for your student and pay fees. If you opt in for Chromebook Insurance, the $25 fee needs to be paid by September 19th. You can send in one check for both the Instructional fee and Chromebook Insurance a check made payable to Wadsworth City Schools or pay online via PaySchools. *If you don't complete the process then you will not have Chromebook Insurance for the school year.

Have a SUPER week!

Girls on the Run

PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING PTO

For just $5 you can pledge your support to our CIS PTO. The money will be used for teacher requests and our PTO has been instrumental each year in helping us to provide a positive and impactful educational experience for students and staff. Last year, our PTO made a big push to add technology opportunities and many new books to our school! Here is the PTO FLYER.

FAMILY VACATIONS - NOTE FROM MR. COBB

Please remember that if your child is going to miss school because of a vacation, then you will need PRIOR approval. Please email me in advance and request that the absence be listed as "excused". For more information regarding attendance please check out the Student Absence Brochure.

CONTACTING OUR ATTENDANCE DESK

Our attendance clerk, Mrs. Long, is the contact person for calling off your student and any change of dismissal plans throughout the day. Please call the Attendance Line to reach her and/or leave a message. The phone number to her desk is 330-335-1481. We recommend you let the attendance desk/teacher know when your student is going to be absent, leaving early or arriving late. Letting us know when your child is going to leave early allows us to be prepared for when you arrive. Thank you for your efforts!

COVID-19 & ILLNESS AT CIS

Our school district will follow these recommendations from the Ohio Department of Health.

ODH recommends schools follow general isolation procedures from the CDC for confirmed cases. If students or staff feel sick or suspect they might have COVID-19, they should stay home and take a rapid test. If positive, students and staff should stay home from school for at least 5 days and longer if necessary until fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and symptoms are improving. Additionally, after isolation ends, students and staff should continue to take precautions as they resume normal activities by wearing a mask for 5 days (or after two negative tests 48 hours apart).

CELL PHONES

Students are permitted to bring their cell phones to school. However, they need to put them away when they enter the building and store them in their lockers during the day. Once they exit the building, at the end of the day, then they are permitted to use them. During the school day our students shouldn't use their cell phones to contact home if they aren't feeling well. Students are encouraged to go to the clinic if they aren't feeling well. This helps us keep track of students and prevents the office from being surprised when a parent/guardian shows up unexpectedly.

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAYS & SPIRIT FRIDAYS

Students (and staff) are encouraged to wear motivational shirts on Mondays and Red/White (Grizzly or CIS) gear on Fridays. This will be encouraged throughout the school year along with additional spirit days throughout the school year.
