Note from Mrs. Craft
Dear Hart Families,
I hope that you have had a fantastic week. On Tuesday, our 4th graders were able to shine in their program, "Take Me to Texas." This great program combines the learning our 4th graders are experiencing in the classroom and the music standards to address our Social Studies standards around Texas. While students learn about important Texans in class they learn folk dances, songs, and rhymes related to Texas in music class. Students learned that we have a rich history with Mexico, Native American Tribes, and even German settlers. The performance demonstrated respect and celebration of cultures in our community and our great state of Texas. The 4th graders performed a rhyme in Spanish, a song in German, and - of course - so many songs about Texas! This is an example of a strong collaboration between our Social Studies and Music class. A big thank you to our students, Ms. Arabie, our 4th grade team, and all of the parents who attended to make the night a success. Of course, I get teary-eyed every time I hear them sing "Take Me to Texas."
I highly encourage all of you to attend Fentanyl Factor: A Community Discussion on Fentanyl for Parents and Teens on Wednesday, March 29th at 6pm at LHS Lecture Hall. Read below for more information and how to RSVP. It is never to early to discuss with your child the dangers of Fentanyl and other drugs.
I hope all of the Moms will be able to join us next Tuesday and Wednesday for Muffins with Mom from 7:15 - 7:50. Please note that this is a come-and-go event. Moms and students will enter the gym door and then will enter the line. When you finish breakfast, students will exit the gym door to enter the building and Mom will leave the gym door that leads to the parking lot. Moms will not have to check in to enter the gym area.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at anytime.
All My Best,
Wendy Craft

Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:
Spring Pictures
Spring Pictures will be April 4th and 5th. We will NOT have makeups for Spring Pictures, so please make sure your child is at school and on time for pictures. This picture will be used in the yearbook for any student that is new, missed fall pictures, or asked for a re-take. Due to the photographer using the stage, we will not be having lunch visitors on these two days.
April 4th - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade
April 5th - Kindergarten and 4th grade
After pictures are taken, you will receive an email from CareyLynn Photography where you can order spring pictures. If you have any questions regarding our upcoming pictures, please contact Janean Mancini at 469.742.8200 or janean_mancini@lovejyisd.net.

3rd Grade Program News
Dear 3rd Grade Families,
Your child is preparing for the Folk Dance program in music class. Students will perform traditional folk dances from around the world. This is a fun evening with opportunities for our community to mix, mingle, and join in on the dances!
We will present the program on Tuesday, April 11 at 6:00PM. Students will arrive by 5:50pm in the cafe to line up. The program is approximately 30-45 minutes.
Please take note of the following in preparation for the program:
Attire - All students will wear a shirt that matches their color group for specials (they are either in red, orange, yellow, green, or blue). Please ask your student. Any bottoms will do, but appropriate shoes should be worn to allow everyone to move safely - tennis shoes.
Updates and Information - Please see the Hart Music Website or look for 3rd Grade Program in the weekly principal message.
Decorations - I am looking for a few volunteers to hang flag banners across and around our gym after school on Monday, April 10th. If interested, please send me an email by 4/6.
Families of 3rd graders are welcome to attend the performance as well as participate in our folk dances. Please see the principal message for more details. If you have any questions please let me know via email - katrina_arabie@lovejoyisd.net
Thank you!

Safety Moment with Marshal Smith
Hello, Hart Families. We conduct Fire Drills every month to insure the safety of our students and to create mind muscle memory that will help prevent panic during an actual event. We conducted March’s drill on Tuesday, March 14th. During the drill the students and teachers were faced with an obstacle at one of the exits resembling the fire being in that area and had to redirect to another exit. We also had students separated from their homeroom class because they were in the library or in multiple pull out classes. We were able to evacuate the building in less than 90 seconds despite the obstacle that was presented and had full accountability of students and staff in under 5 minutes with great communication between staff members. These times show a great sense of urgency and awareness. Our practice drills are showing great improvement, and we are very proud of our students and staff for keeping safety at the forefront.
