Thoughts From Mrs. Shock...
I cannot believe October is here already! I love this time of year with all the fall colors and the excitement of fall activities in the air. The school year is now in full swing and I love to see the excitement on our students' faces while they are learning something new! Their joy is contagious!
Parking Lot Reminders:
Yes, the parking lot is congested. There is only one way in and out of our lot, which will cause back ups. However, if we all follow the guidelines below, we can help things move along more smoothly. Below are a few reminders to help with our traffic flow.
- The front lot by the berm is for staff and buses only. There should not be parent drop offs or pick ups in this lot. Please use the side lot.
- We do have a parent drop off lane available along the curb of the side lot (south side of the building). This is for dropping off only. If you park and get out of your vehicle anywhere along the curb you are parking, not dropping off and it prevents the line of cars dropping off from flowing.
- If you must leave your vehicle when dropping your child off, please use a parking space. You may also park along Terra Bella and Aynesley as well if you prefer to avoid the backup in the parking lot.
- Also, to keep the parent drop off lane moving, please pull all the way forward as traffic allows to let your child out. This allows us to also keep traffic flowing. If there is space in front of you please move forward, if you want to drop your child off in a specific area than please park your car in a parking space and walk your child to their spot, otherwise we have many adults around who will help students get to where they need to go .
The newsletter below is filled with lots of information for the month of October.
Enjoy!

Ordering Student Hot Lunches
If your child will be late to school, please message the teacher to let them know that your student will want to order lunch for the following day. You may also leave this information on the attendance line when calling them in as a late arrival to school.
For easy planning, please refer to the hot lunch menu for the month of October.
PTO Trunk Or Treat and Movie Night!
Attendance Procedures
If you know your child will be out the following day, please call the evening or night before to avoid forgetting to call. Again, you can call 24/7!
We expect every child to be in school and on time each day. When they aren't here as expected, we are concerned for their safety! Please make every effort to notify us as early as possible!
Calling In An Absence To Our Attendance Line
Whenever calling our attendance line for non-Covid related absences, you will be asked to provide the student name, their grade, the reason for absence in detail and the name of the person calling and their relationship to the student. If you simply say your child is not feeling well, we will have to call you for more details due to the pandemic situation that we are in.
If your child has tested positive for Covid 19 or has been directly exposed to someone who has tested positive, please call our Covid Hotline first at 586-723-2188 to speak with our Covid nurse directly. She will guide you and the school on how best to handle your individual situation.
We appreciate your help and also calling in no later than 8:45am for absences!
students leaving early from school
Please plan for a few extra minutes for us to get your child and bring them out to you. Upon arrival, please come to the Main Entrance and push the office button on the call box located on the brick wall near our drop-off bin. We will ask a few questions and get your child from class.
We will also check ID of the person picking up - If you are sending someone, and they aren't a parent, they must be on the list of Emergency Contacts that you have provided us. We also ask that you call the office ahead of time and let us know that someone other than the parent will pick the student up. This will help speed up things when that person arrives.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Please remember too that the 29th is a half day of school - dismissal will be at 11:55am.
