Smog: Do Your Share For Cleaner Air
By: Rachel Miller
Is it Dangerous?
Smog contains a gas called ozone that can cause health problems. Good ozone is naturally made and is in the upper part of Earth's atmosphere, it's purpose is to protect us from the sun's very strong rays. Bad ozone is closer to Earth's surface and can cause breathing problems. Bad ozone is not naturally made, it comes from factories, cars, power plants and much more.
Bad ozone can cause lung problems such as irritation in the respiratory system, reduce lung function, cause asthma, damage to the lining of the lung, and it is predicted that it can cause more problems. One solution to prevent from causing smog is by using a more eco-friendly transportation device. For example riding a bike or walking instead of the car.
