Families with loved ones with special needs especially need to be mindful of preparing for these situations and these workshops will help you do that.

CREATING A DISASTER SUPPLY KIT

It's important to have the necessary supplies for a disaster kit. Learn about what needs to go into a disaster supply kit, how long to prepare for, what to consider for loved ones with special needs, and how to store the supplies.

EVACUATION AND SHELTER PLANNING

September 20, 2022 6:30pm

Evacuation and Shelter planning takes early awareness and education. This webinar will guide your planning and give you tips to make sure you and your loved ones will be safe in the event of needing to leave your home and find shelter. Special needs planning is discussed in this workshop.

MANAGING YOUR FAMILY AND PERSONAL STRESS

Planning for and surviving through a disaster can be stressful for both you and your family members. Learn tips for recognizing stress in this situation and how to manage those feelings. Resources will be shared.

Presenter

Lisa Math serves as Director of Family STAR program (Support, Training, Assistance, and Resources) for Family Network on Disabilities. She is also a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS-F) with an endorsement in working with Families. Her most important role is that as a parent of a 24 year- old young adult who has multiple medical conditions and mental health challenges.

Family Network on Disabilities

FND has been supporting families and youth (age 26 and younger) with disabilities since 1985. We provide information, resources, support and trainings to families, caregivers, youth, providers, related service projects and school districts across the state of Florida at no charge.

Florida and Virgin Islands (FAVI) Deaf-Blind Collaborative

The FAVI Deaf-Blind Collaborative serves the entire state of Florida providing training and consultation services to the families and educational teams of Florida’s children and young adults (ages 0-22) with concurrent hearing loss and vision loss.
