Gunpowder plot
By Charly James
Guy Fawkes night all started back in 1605 when Guy Fawkes, also known as Guido Fawkes tried to blow up the house of parliment with a group he had created. Their plan was to blow up the building whilst there was a big meeting taking place. This story is remembered on November the 5th and is celebrated with bonfires and sparklers.
Guy fawkes and his gang of 12 other men managed to rent out a small flat that was located near the Houses of Parliment. They dragged 36 barrels of gunpowder into the celler of the House of Lords. The barrels of gunpowder could not be used as Guy had waited too long and they would not blow up. Guy soon got some more gunpowder but the day before, the plot went to pieces. Monteagle had recieved a suspicious note from someone annonymous telling him not to attend parliment on the 5th of November. Monteagle informed Robert cecil immediately. On November the 4th they searched the cellars and found Guy fawkes. He was taken to the tower and and was tortured so he would leak the information about his conspirators. He was hung, drwan and quartered.
