Google Forms Quiz Lock Mode
You can help keep students focused while they take quizzes and tests on their Chromebooks. When students take a quiz in locked mode, they won’t be able to browse other websites or open any other apps. Locked mode collects email addresses and limits quizzes to only your domain. When in locked mode:
- Student's can't use other apps.
- Some extensions and keyboard shortcuts are disabled.
- If a student exits the quiz, or opens any other tab, the teacher is notified via email.
To turn on locked mode:
- In Google Forms, open a quiz.
- At the top, click Settings Quizzes.
- Check the box next to "Turn on locked mode."

Insert Audio Into Google Slides (coming soon)
For years, teachers and students have wanted to add audio, either narration or background music to Google Slides. Woo-hoo! That feature is now available. To add audio to your slideshow:
1. Upload audio file to your google drive. (must be .mp3 or .wav file)
2. In the slideshow, click Insert > Audio.
3. Locate the audio file in your Google Drive and click Select. A speaker button will appear on your slide.
4. When the speaker icon is selected (has the blue bars), you can click and drag to place it where you want.
5. You can also click on Format Options in the toolbar. Playback options include looping, playing when clicked, playing when the slide changes, etc.
*Adding audio may currently be available in your personal Google account, and is coming soon to your school Google account. Google is rolling this out in stages.*
NEW! Insert Audio Into Google Slides!
Switch to a Blank Screen in Google Slides
Using new keyboard shortcuts, you’ll now be able to change to an all white or black screen while presenting. This can be helpful when you want to pause a presentation to answer a question or further a discussion without any material on screen. While presenting, press “B” to turn your screen black or “W” to turn your screen white. You can resume presenting by using any other keyboard or mouse action.

Time Saving Trick for Google Tools
Do you need to start a new doc, sheet, or form quickly? Now simply type doc.new in the search bar, and a new doc will load. This works for all Google tools & can be a real timesaver! (Don’t type in the “www” — just the domain.)
