Mrs. Franke's 5th Grade Class
We are learning about story elements and working on comparing and contrasting different story elements. We are comparing and contrasting characters, setting, and plot. We will also be working on main ideas and summarizing.
The students are working on narrative writing. We are working on infusing our voice and showing our readers what is happening instead of telling them. All of the students are working hard and making thoughtful revisions!
We will be wrapping up our first unit soon. The students have been introduced to the traditional methods of multiplication and division. They have also started working through order of operation problems. We will start working with volume of rectangular prisms and irregular shapes.
We have just started our first social studies unit. The students will be learning about a Native American group and teaching the rest of the class about their findings. They will then be researching an explorer and seeing how the explorer interacted with the natives.
We will be having a fall party in the afternoon on October 28th. If you would like to donate an item for our party please sign up here: Franke Fall Party Sign-up.
Parent Information to our Room Mom
Jodi Kittel is our room mom and she would like to have all of the parent's contact information for our class. To help her simplify communication, please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org with your child's name, your name (parent's name), primary e-mail and phone number.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who donated items for our first auction! It was a great success and the kids had so much fun! We would be more than happy to accept items at anytime! Small toys, packaged treats, puzzles, books, etc. all make great auction items!
Please make sure you check your child's take home folders on Thursdays and empty out all returned work. Important flyers and information get sent home on Thursdays also!
