Welcome
The purpose of this newsletter is to provide all of our Featherstone Families with classroom counseling lessons, activities and additional resources/information from the entire Featherstone Student Services team to help during this time of distance learning and social distancing. This is a living document and will be updated frequently. If there are questions or concerns that you have that are not addressed in this newsletter please let us know. We will do our best to find/direct you to the best answers.
PWCS cares deeply about students’ emotional well-being during the summer break. If a student is in need of emotional support during this time, please feel free to send an e-mail to studentsupportservices@pwcs.edu. A school mental health or health professional will answer and offer virtual support to students to the best of their ability. This e-mail is not to be used for emergency situations as it will not be monitored 24 hours a day. If a student is ever in an emergency situation he/she is encouraged to call 911 or utilize one of the resources listed below:

Breakfast and Lunch Pick Ups still available
PWCS will continue to prepare and serve to-go meals throughout the summer at 22 feeding sites (see below). Meals will continue to be distributed using appropriate social distancing and minimal personal contact. All meals are free of charge to students age 18 and younger.
Meals may be picked up by walking up to the sites, or by driving up, which is preferred. Parents/guardians may pick-up meals without students present. Staff will request parents or guardians produce proof of student enrollment in the form of student ID, report card, or other official school documentation with the child’s name printed on the document and provide names of non-school age or children not enrolled in school, who are 18 years old and under. Monday through Friday. 9 - 11 am.

Comidas para llevar disponibles todo el verano
PWCS continuará preparando y entregando comidas para llevar durante todo el verano en 22 sitios de distribución de comidas (ver la lista más abajo). Las comidas se seguirán distribuyendo con la puesta en práctica de un distanciamiento social apropiado y un contacto personal mínimo. Todas las comidas son gratuitas para los estudiantes de hasta 18 años de edad.

**There is a new FOOD HELP LINE 703-794-4668. This number is up and running. Families can call this number and there are agents that will help direct them to their nearest food pantry based on their location or they will be entered into a system to get a delivery if they do not have transportation or are immune compromised.
If the person calling is over 65 they will automatically be put in their Sr. Home Delivery program. They get food deliveries daily and immediately push the food out to the ones who need it.**
They will need the following information

Lessons from your School Counselors
- Final Lesson of the School Year. Lesson 9. Transition for ALL GRADES. It is hard that we aren't all together to say have a great summer, good luck on your next grade, or congratulations for being promoted to 6th grade (and 1st grade for our kindergartners). It can be scary to move on, but know that Ms. Hayes and Ms. Tracy love you and are thinking of you everyday. - Coping Skills/Resiliency Lesson 8 for K - 5. Listen to this fabulous and funny story by Julia Cook. Here is the link. It is important to make a list of things you can control and the things you can. Then Ms. Hayes and Ms. Tracy want you to practice taking deep breaths and finding a quiet place to calm all your worries down and then let them go like a volcano. To do volcano breathing/stretch sit tall on the floor or in a chair. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose. Lift your head and stretch your arms to the skills and breathe out. Do this five times. How you do you feel? Are your worries blasted to the sky like lava?
- Conflict Resolution Part 2 Lesson 7 Grades 3 - 5. Ms. Hayes is challenging you to do the Kindness Challenge again. Here is the link. Kindness is the best way to solve a conflict.
- Conflict Resolution Part 2 Lesson 7 Grades K - 2. Ms. Tracy wants you to listen to a great book read by the amazing author Julia Cook. I Want To Be The Only Dog. It is about sibling rivalry. While we are all at home, sometimes it is hard to be with our brothers, sisters, and cousins. Listen to this great funny story here. Hope it helps!
