College Week- January 14-18
McMillen High School Expo- Thursday, January 17
In preparing for transition to high school, McMillen High School would like to invite incoming 9th grade families to our High School Expo on Thursday, January 17, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. During the High School Expo, families will have an opportunity to meet with students and staff to ask questions about student life, honors, Pre-Advance Placement courses, band, cheerleading, ROTC, dance, athletics, orchestra, theater, choir, Languages Other Than English (LOTE), computer science, and Career and Technical Education (CATE) courses.
We will have a panel of our student ambassadors on hand to answer any question about McMillen from a student's perspective.
Festivities will also include:
1. Building tours
2. Spirit-wear shopping
3. Performances by the McMillen Band, Choir, Cheerleaders and Dazzlers
4. A chance to tour the building some teachers, counselors and staff
5. A great venue for fellowshipping with our McMillen families

Preparándose para la transición a la Preparatoria, a McMillen High School le gustaría invitar a usted y su estudiante a nuestra Visita de Bienvenida el día 17de Enero de 6:00pm-7:15pm. Usted y su estudiante tendrán la oportunidad de reunirse con los estudiantes y empleados, para hacer preguntas acerca de la vida estudiantil, IEPs/504, honores, cursos Colocación Pre-Avanzada, Orquesta, Porristas, Danza y Atletismo. Tendremos un panel de nuestros embajadores estudiantiles que estarán disponibles para contestar cualquier pregunta sobre McMillen desde la perspectiva de un estudiante. Estas Festividades también incluirán:
1. Recorridos por instalaciones
2. Compras de Ropa de nuestra Escuela
3. Presentaciones de la Orquesta de McMillen, Coro, Porristas y el Grupo de danza "Dazzlers"
4. Oportunidad para conocer a los maestros y empleados de la escuela
5. Un gran lugar de compañerismo con nuestras familias McMillen

2019 Plano ISD Parent Workshops
6th Grade Girls Interested in Athletics Next Year
In order to be eligible to sign-up for Athletics, 6th grade girls must be present and complete a 3 day sample workout that will be held Monday January 14th, Tuesday January 15th, and Thursday, January 17th. All girls that complete all 3 days of the sample workout will then be given a form that must be returned with a parent signature by the end of the day on Friday January 18th. All 3 days of the sample workout as well as the signed parent form must be completed in order to be eligible to sign-up for girls athletics in 7th grade. If you have any further questions please contact the Athletic Director Mark Woodyard (mark.woodyard@pisd.edu).

6th Grade Parents
Prior to the entry of 7th grade (2019-2020 school year), your child needs immunizations required by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Those immunizations are:
*Meningococcal Vaccine (MCV4) which should be given after age 11
*Tdap Vaccine
Please submit those vaccines to me as soon as they are received. This can be done by submitting the paperwork to the school, email, FAX, or regular mail.

Keep Murphy Beautiful & Republic Services challenges YOU to create a recycling mascot! Using the theme "Don't Mess with Murphy" as your inspiration, create your poster featuring your mascot to help with litter prevention and recycling!
Grand prize winners will have their artwork displayed on the side of the Murphy Recycling Truck! 12 great job winners will get their artwork displayed on the side of our big belly trash cans throughout the city.
WHO: Kids who live in Murphy or go to school in Murphy! Kindergarten through 10th grade!
