Rise Up

PPA's Weekly Newsletter - August 10, 2022

Greetings PPA Students and Families

Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!!!! We are excited for the new school year, with the wonderful transition to a new building. Construction is still in progress and the new space is starting to look much better. Furniture is being organized in the workshop spaces, walls are being painted, and the teaching kitchen is coming into fruition. A lot of wonderful work is being done.

The first day of school is Tuesday, Sep 6, 2022. Be on the lookout for weekly updates to support any concerns you may have.

Staff Spotlight!

My name is Kate Maselter and I am so excited to be part of PPA this year! I am coming from teaching 17 years of 7th grade math at Prairie View Middle School right here in Sun Prairie. Being part of PPA has always been a teaching goal of mine, so I am happy to make it a reality this year. Outside of school my family keeps me busy. My husband Steve and I have 2 daughters. Jordan is 12 and Charlie is 9. They are very active with basketball and soccer, so most of our free time is spent with that. I am looking forward to meeting all of the students and families soon!

What is Keys to Success?

Keys to Success will offer a time for students to visit the new building, meet and greet the staff for the 22-23 school year, and familiarize themselves with the structure and expectations of PPA before the first day of school. I encourage all students to attend!!!! Click the link below to learn more about Keys to Success. Even though registration is closed, reach out to Ms. Kathy @ 608- 834-6903 or Ms. Annetta Wright @ 608- 834- 6928

Additional Information for the start of the school year

Where can I get information about school supplies?

At PPA we do not have a supply list. Students are more than welcome to bring and use their own supplies, other than that we provide supplies.

What about chromebooks?

All students that kept chromebooks should have them, students that turned in chromebooks will receive one, and students that lost chromebooks will have a meeting with the principal.

When will we find transportation information and receive bus tags?

Transportation information will be posted by our District Support Center in Infinite Campus and as soon as we know that date, we will share it with you. Bus tags will be passed out on the first day of school so that students can attach them directly to their backpacks. Students will ABSOLUTELY be able to ride the bus to school on the first day of school without a bus tag, as long as the student qualifies for transportation to PPA.

When are school pictures?

Pictures will be taken during the school day on Friday, September 23, 2022. Ordering information will be sent as soon as we have that for you.

2022-2023 Student Handbook

As we launch this school year with 3 High Schools in Sun Prairie (Sun Prairie East, Sun Prairie West and Prairie Phoenix Academy) we are united in our high expectations and high levels of support for students. Please grab a cup of coffee, refill your water or your favorite beverage and carefully read through our Student Handbook. This includes LOTS of important information from academics to student/parent/caregiver support to school nutrition and student fees.

The safety of our students, parents/caregivers, staff and community is our top priority. Please see our attached annual asbestos report.

Ongoing Communication

We will continue to provide communications on Wednesdays, as more information becomes available. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us by email.

We appreciate your time in reading through this information. We will keep you updated on a weekly basis. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or celebrations. We are here to support you, your scholar and their academic journey.
