PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Happy Summer RC Rocket Families!

You made it! What a year we had! Whether you were on CDL or in person hybrid, you amazed us with your ability to stay engaged and be flexible. You have all earned a restful and restorative summer break!

As we look forward to next year, we know that it will be very different. We know that we have all lived through many challenges and we will need to build our stamina for a full school day. We will do this with intention and joy. Your children are precious and we are looking forward to re-imagining our school day to support their growth.

There are many ways that you can support your children as we think about next school year. One way is to speak positively about the year ahead. Remind your children that they will be coming to a school full of adults who love them and are excited to learn with them. They are not alone. We will be in this together, as the amazing Rock Creek community that we all love.

We also want to wish a happy retirement to two of our fabulous staff members, Intervention/Student Success coach Sherry Krueger and Kindergarten teacher Joan Peck.

Happy Summer~ We've Got This!

TIME TO RETURN LIBRARY BOOKS!

We will have a Library Return Book Bin by the front doors 7:30am to 3:00pm Monday-Friday thru 6/29/21

Time to gather up library books and return them to school. Look for the Rock Creek barcode on the front of the book it will also have a call number on the spine (which makes looking on bookshelves easier) or if it is a thin book on the front left bottom.

I will be sending out overdue notices every week through the end of the year so that you know what books need to come back.

Discard books are yours to keep, they are books that have been well used and replaced with new books. When you are done with them, please pass them on to someone else to read.

PARENTSQUARE

The Beaverton School District is very excited to be adopting a new and improved platform for communication. Beginning June 28th, we’ll be transitioning to a product called ParentSquare to keep families better informed. ParentSquare will replace SchoolMessenger and any other texting/messaging apps like Remind or Talking Points that individual schools and teachers may be using. It will not replace ParentVUE, StudentVUE, Canvas or Seesaw.

ParentSquare provides a safe way for administrators, teachers, staff and parents to:

  • Send and receive district, school and class information in your preferred language
  • Share pictures and files
  • See calendar items
  • Sign up for conferences
  • And much more… all in one place!

ParentSquare Parent Videos

Padres — Introducción a ParentSquare

District, school, grade level and classroom information will be sent to your computer and/or phone via email and/or text. Or you can download the free iOS or Android app.

ParentSquare has a familiar design, similar to a social media feed. Families will only receive notifications that are relevant to their students. In addition to district- and school-wide messaging, teachers and staff will have access to two-way messaging with real-time translation. Families will be able to receive and send information in their chosen languages.

You don’t need to take any action to receive emails, texts or phone calls prior to the July 1 launch. Our student information system will sync contact information directly with ParentSquare. If you’d prefer to use the app, simply download it from the app store on or after July 1 and follow the prompts.

To learn more about ParentSquare, visit our webpage: https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/parentsquare

Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

ROCK CREEK PARENT-TEACHER CLUB

Play in the Park for Future Kindergarten/1st Grade

Going to school is a big step! To ease this step, we would like future kindergarten students to get to know each other over the summer and parents to connect. Kids will have familiar faces to start school. Therefore, the PTC has organized three play in the park events.

Similarly, some of this year's kindergarten students have never met their classmates in-person and are welcome as future first-graders to join the play in the park.

We welcome your family at Pirate park on the following Saturdays:

July 17 at 10 am
August 7th at 2 pm
August 28th at 10 am

You will also find this and more information on Facebook, via text message (text: @rcptcto 81010 to join) and through our website. Also, we just joined Instagram - follow us at @RockCreekPTC!

All Rock Creek Parents are automatically members of the Parent Teacher Club (PTC). The PTC is a great way to learn about the exciting things happening at Rock Creek. There are tons of ways to get involved! Connect with the PTC at our meetings, on Facebook, via text message (text: @rcptcto 81010 to join) and through our website. SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL

As you and your children get ready for a summer of fun and adventure, review the PALS slogan
to help all have a healthy, happy, fun-filled summer!
P – Polite: Respect all road users.
A – Alert: Keep your eyes, ears and brain open and ready.
L – Legal: Obey all signs and signals, know your rights AND responsibilities.
S – Safe: Know your abilities to make good choices.
This summer try mapping your route to school, community center, pool or park. List positives
and negatives about the trip. What can you/we do to make it better? Try writing a letter to
your local newspaper or school teacher about where you’ve gone, how many miles traveled,
and what improvements you’d like to see on those routes. Maybe we can make them better!

Below, we’ve included a link that will take you to our website, where you’ll find it already translated into your language. Please know, the translation is generated by Google Translate.
