This Week's HOMEWORK
Math: We will start on Chapter 1 this week. Homework for math will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. No Friday homework. Homework will be on individual pages from a workbook. No tests or quizzes this week. :-)
Reading: Read story and practice vocabulary words (take books home on Tuesday and Thursday - other days are fine if they work better for your home schedule).
A paper/pencil test will be given on Friday over the reading story. A paper/pencil test will be given for the first three tests. I will read the test to the students for the first three weeks. Starting on week 4, tests will not be read to students and they will be taken on their iPads.
One Minute Reads (OMR) This paper will come home on Monday. It has directions stapled to it. This page will be read more than once throughout the week. Students will be given a One Minute Read test in class each week. It will not be the same one that they practice at home. There is a page in the purple D.O.T folder that says OMR's. You don't have to do anything with this. This is where I will write their grades for the OMR test they take with me. OMR tests are one -on-one.
Reading Comprehension sheet This will come home on Tuesday. It is a story about a lost umbrella. Have your child read this to you completely on their own the first time and then you can read it together (or with assistance) the second time. Have your child give you the answers to the questions. I would like your child to write the answers for the story themselves.
**The homework will make a lot more sense once you see it next week!**
All homework is due on Friday morning.
If your child completes any homework before Friday, just keep it in their purple D.O.T folder and they will turn everything in on Friday. If you don't want to take a chance of papers getting lost, just put a note on their homework (or send me a message) and I have some ideas that you may be more comfortable with.
