Message from the Superintendent

Big picture

Welcome to the January 14, 2022 Edition of The Blueprint!

Happy New Year!! I hope your holidays were filled with all you hoped as you spent much needed time with friends and family. The district reopened on January 4, 2022 and we have been working very hard to remain in-person. However, we are prepared to pivot to remote instruction should the need arise. The COVID-19 numbers are increasing and the entire state is currently classified as “red” which indicates very high levels of COVID-19. We are grateful for our faculty, staff and administrators who are working tirelessly to ensure that the continuity of academic rigor remains whether students are at home as a result of being isolated/quarantined or in-person with their teachers and peers. We experienced an increase in COVID-19 cases upon our return from Winter Break; however, those numbers have since decreased. We are not “out of the woods” yet. Everyone is requested to remain vigilant in regards to social distancing, mask wearing, and ensuring that protocols and procedures to prevent exposure to COVID-19 are followed.

Our district COVID testing program is underway and we offer testing on Wednesdays. Faculty/staff/administrators are tested from 6:30AM-8:30AM and students are tested from 3:30PM – 5:30PM. Registration for testing is required and must be completed by the established deadline. Effective Monday, January 17, 2022, the deadline to register for COVID testing is 5PM on Mondays. We need additional time to ensure that all testing materials are labeled and all paperwork is in order prior to Wednesday mornings. We encourage all faculty/staff/administrators and students to be tested, weekly, so that we may do our part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

On Thursday, January 13, 2022, a letter was shared with families, via Edlio, regarding Executive Order 281 and its continuation to uphold the requirement for face masks and for covered workers to provide proof of vaccination or to submit to weekly COVID testing. The letter further shared that, as of now, we will not adopt the recommended five (5) day quarantine but will continue to follow the previous isolation (10 days)/quarantine guidance (10 days without a negative COVID test or 7 days with a negative COVID test taken between the 5th and 7th day of quarantine). Changes, in this regard, will be shared via a letter prior to implementation.

We continue to request that families notify the school nurses and principals of all positive cases of COVID-19 in addition to any direct exposures whether in or out of school. It is very important that we work with families to ensure the health and safety of everyone.

Have an awesome weekend!

Dr. Frederick D. Williams

District News and Announcements

Voluntary District COVID Testing for Students - Registration Deadline Changed to 5PM Monday

The below communications, in English and Spanish, are in regards to the district's new COVID testing procedures for students that began January 5, 2022. Testing is voluntary and parents of students aged 17 and below must self-register their children via the AURA portal. Students aged 18 and above may register themselves. However, we highly encourage parental permission/involvement. Procedures and instructions for self registration are included in the attachments.

The registration deadline has been changed. Registration is now required to be completed by 5PM each MONDAY in order to be tested the following Wednesday. The change in registration deadline is needed to provide time for our team to prepare all of the items needed to ensure testing runs smoothly each Wednesday.
